Job Description

Stoneridge Software began with the desire and understanding of what it takes to succeed in implementing business software solutions for the benefit of client’s business goals. Stoneridge founders recognized the need for a strategic business partner who could not only deliver software implementations but excel at it. As a 2025 Top Workplace Honoree, a member of the Microsoft Inner Circle, and an award-winning Microsoft Solutions Partner, we have crafted a meticulous approach to project delivery. Our commitment to long-term support empowers our client’s success, and we approach our work with integrity, tenacity and a culture of continuous improvement.
As a Stoneridge team member, it is important to us that your work is balanced with the rest of your life. We foster a flexible work environment and promote a remote-forward culture with team members located across North America. We have office locations in Fargo, ND and Minneapolis, MN that serve as key collaboration hubs. In-person work at these locations is encouraged and, at times, required. Team members should expect to travel to these offices as needed based on role expectations, project requirements, team collaboration, training, or other business-driven needs. Team members at Stoneridge benefit from an environment of collaboration and curiosity, backed up by continuous learning opportunities, personalized development plans, flexible time off, and many more benefits. We strive to maintain inclusive benefits that bring a sense of belonging to all of our team members.
It's our mission to help clients win through intentional leadership, thoughtful teaching, and eye-opening possibilities. With specialties in the entire suite of Microsoft Dynamics business applications and complementary Microsoft technologies, Stoneridge focuses on not only attracting the most knowledgeable, tenacious consulting experts in the field but building up that expertise from within. Come join us on this exciting journey!
Stoneridge is looking for a strategic Director of the Project Management Office (PMO) to build and lead a consultative, outcome driven project management practice that enables profitable growth, predictable delivery, and exceptional client experiences.

This role goes beyond traditional project governance. The PMO Director is a senior delivery leader, accountable for how work gets delivered—including project execution standards, financial performance, resource utilization, tooling, and continuous improvement across the consulting delivery lifecycle. The Director partners closely with delivery VP leadership, and client teams to ensure delivery excellence that will scale with the business serving both Enterprise and SMB client bases.

A Day in the Life

  • Establish and mature a consultative PM model where project managers act as trusted advisors to clients and internal stakeholders, proactively manage scope, risk, value realization, and outcomes, and influence decisions, not just track tasks
  • Define PM role expectations, competencies, and career paths aligned to a consulting mindset
  • Coach and develop PMs to operate effectively in complex, multi-workstream engagements
  • Ensure PMs are embedded as strategic partners in client delivery
  • Design and lead a scalable PMO resource model that intentionally blends senior, consultative PMs with more tactical and administrative PM roles - ensuring the right level of leadership is applied to each engagement and all resources are fully utilized within their respective skill sets, strengths, and experiences
  • Respond to client escalation and provide project management where necessary on client facing projects
  • Own PMO contribution to delivery financial performance, including billable utilization, margin protection, forecast accuracy, change management and scope control
  • Partner with practice and delivery leaders to optimize resource allocation across projects, balance utilization targets with quality and sustainability, anticipate capacity needs and delivery risks, build systems, processes and tools to allow for accurate tracking of backlog to anticipate needs and adjustments
  • Ensure PMs actively manage project economics, not just schedules
  • Define and enforce delivery standards, playbooks, and governance models that scale
  • Evolve governance to be rightsized and value-driven, avoiding bureaucracy
  • Ensure consistent application of project initiation and readiness, financial and delivery reporting, risk, issue, and dependency management, and change control and decision escalation
  • Lead the use of technology and AI to reduce administrative overhead and improve insight, including automating status reporting, forecasting, and documentation, leveraging AI for meeting summaries, risk identification, and delivery insights, and reducing manual PM effort that does not directly contribute to client value
  • Partner with internal teams to select, implement, and optimize PMO tools and platforms
  • Champion continuous modernization of delivery operations through smart tooling
  • Serve as a key leader within delivery operations, driving process simplification, reduced delivery friction, and improved cross team collaboration
  • Use data and insights to identify patterns, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities
  • Lead retrospectives and improvement initiatives across projects and portfolios
  • Continuously refine delivery models to support growth, complexity, and scale
  • Partner with executive leadership on delivery strategy, capacity and investment decisions, and risk management and escalation
  • Collaborate closely with practice leaders, client success leadership, and sales and presales teams (as needed) to ensure delivery readiness
  • Represent the PMO as a strategic function, not a compliance layer
Key Success Criteria:
  • Set clear expectations that the PMO operates as a consultative, outcome-driven function—PMs are value-adding advisors
  • Drive predictable, profitable, and scalable delivery outcomes by strengthening execution standards, governance, and proactive risk/issue management
  • Reduce administrative burden through smart processes, technology, automation, and AI—prioritizing work that directly contributes to client value
  • Meet delivery financial targets (utilization, margin, forecast accuracy) without sacrificing quality or culture
  • Position the PMO as a strategic enabler of growth that improves delivery maturity and client experience
  • Define PM role expectations, competencies, and career paths aligned to a consulting mindset

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business, Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience
  • 10+ years of experience in consulting delivery, project/program management, or delivery operations
  • Proven experience building or transforming a PMO within a consulting organization
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing utilization, margin, and delivery economics
  • Demonstrated success leading teams through change and operational maturity
  • Experience leveraging technology, automation, and/or AI to improve delivery efficiency
  • Excellent executive communication, influence, and coaching skills
  • Consultative and outcome oriented
  • Comfortable balancing strategy with execution
  • Data driven, pragmatic, and improvement focused
  • Trusted advisor to executives and clients
  • Strong people leader who develops future delivery leaders
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both spoken and written English
