Job Description

The Director of Quality and Risk Management is responsible for the strategic planning, implementation, oversight, and continuous improvement of the hospital's Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) Program, Risk Management Program, Patient Safety Program, and Regulatory Compliance activities. This position promotes a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the organization while ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, county, accreditation, and regulatory requirements.

In collaboration with hospital leadership, medical staff, nursing, and department directors, the Director identifies opportunities to improve clinical outcomes, reduce organizational risk, enhance patient safety, and support regulatory readiness.

This position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer.

*Pay Range: $120,000 to $125, 000/Annually

Essential functions:

  • Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Direct and oversee all Quality Management, Risk Management, Patient Safety, and Performance Improvement activities throughout the hospital.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate the hospital-wide Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) Plan.
  • Lead organizational efforts to improve patient outcomes, reduce risk, and promote a culture of safety.
  • Establish annual quality and patient safety goals aligned with the hospital's strategic plan.
  • Supervise Quality Management personnel and provide coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluations.
  • Direct the hospital Risk Management Program.
  • Review, investigate, and oversee occurrence reports involving patients, visitors, physicians, contractors, and staff.
  • Track, trend, analyze, and report occurrence data to identify patterns, emerging risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Conduct root cause analyses (RCA), and failure mode and effects analyses (FMEA) when appropriate.
  • Collaborate with department leaders to develop corrective action plans and monitor effectiveness.
  • Monitor high-risk events
  • Maintain Regulatory Compliance
  • Assist leadership and legal counsel in matters related to liability exposure
  • Direct the hospital's patient complaint and grievance program to ensure concerns are investigated promptly, resolved appropriately, and utilized as opportunities for organizational improvement

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in fields like healthcare administration, business administration, engineering, or risk management, alongside a preferred master's degree and relevant industry certifications
