Job Description
Quality Division Leadership OpportunityOur client is a leading steel service and processing company that supplies manufacturers in various sectors - primarily automotive but also construction, agriculture, and large scale appliances. Operating out of its Northwest Indiana facility, the company processes large steel coils through services including slitting, cut-to-length processing, pickling, oiling, and inventory management, helping customers transform raw steel into production-ready material. Over the years, the company has grown into one of the nation's largest independent steel service providers.Job DescriptionLead all aspects of metallurgical, quality, and technical services efforts
Manage and develop the quality and technical service department
Review and monitor quality system requirements and compliance
- IATF16949Analyze internal/external data as well as market & customer feedback to initiate corrective actions and eliminate negative trends proactively
Oversee all claims with customers and processors of steel products, ensuring customer satisfaction and resolution
Evaluate different types of steel in stock that can be utilized for various customer applications/needs, providing guidance to customers
Work with all suppliers, processors, and customers concurrently to ensure strong technical service
Utilize SPC and other data sets to create PPAPs/FMEAsOversee metallurgical engineers, quality technicians, claims specialists, and lab personnel
Create and implement inspection and testing criteria and ensure suppliers and processors maintain itTrack and resolve all defects

- Metallurgical Engineering STRONGLY PREFERRED5-10+ years of experience in a steel based manufacturing leadership role, automotive preferred
Strong working knowledge of IATF16949 standards - certification a plus
Continuous improvement mindset at small and large scale
Experience working with high profile customers, especially automotive OEMsFinancial Acumen associated with P&L/Cost centers
Six Sigma Experience- Belt Certification a plus
Ability to work with Sales, Suppliers, Outside Manufacturers/Processors, and customers
Willingness to travel (~20-25%) all within the MidwestWhat's On OfferSalary up to $175,000 depending on relevant experience
