Job Details / Responsibilities:
Lead hospital-wide quality management, patient safety, performance improvement, and risk management programsEnsure compliance with CMS guidelines, The Joint Commission, accrediting bodies, and corporate/hospital policies and proceduresDevelop, implement, and maintain quality assessment and improvement (QAPI) programsAssess compliance with federal, state, and industry regulatory and accreditation standards and drive remediation or sustainment plansServe as primary local leader for Joint Commission, CMS, and other survey readiness, education, and on-site coordination (last JC survey 2023; next survey due any time)Oversee risk management activities including incident reporting, notice of potential claims, corrective action planning, and reporting to Corporate RiskCoordinate review, development, and implementation of hospital policiesMaintain and update hospital plans including Provision of Care/Scope of Services, Leadership, Information Management, Utilization Review, Infection Control, and Patient SafetyUse quality applications and data sources (including IRF tools such as UDS, ORYX, Press Ganey, and similar systems) to identify opportunities, generate reports, and track outcomesSupport and sustain disease-specific certification work in Stroke and Parkinson’s RehabilitationProvide organizational education related to regulations, standards, and performance improvementLead conflict resolution related to quality, safety, and risk issuesDirect the PASC function as a reporting department
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in healthcare or a related field preferredLicense or certification only as required by state regulations (none specifically required for this California role; licensed risk manager not required)Demonstrated experience in Quality and/or Risk Management with primary responsibility for performance improvement, regulatory compliance, conflict resolution, leadership, and risk managementStrong working knowledge of CMS guidelines and Joint Commission regulations (must-have for this search)Clinical background preferred; non-clinical candidates with substantial hospital quality/risk experience will be consideredHospital-based quality and/or risk leadership experience; IRF or post-acute experience is a plus
