Job Description

STATUS: Full-Time
DIVISION: Enrollment Services (ES)
REPORTS TO: Dean of Enrollment 
SUPERVISES: Assistant Directors of Admission (4), Admissions Counselors (4), In-Country Representative (1)
FLSA STATUS:  Exempt
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Recruitment at CCS works with a dynamic and committed team of admissions professionals to connect with talented and innovative students interested in pursuing a degree for a creative career. CCS seeks an optimistic-realist who understands the challenges of higher education enrollment and the value of building connections with teachers, parents, students and team-members. Located in Detroit’s Cultural Center, the College recruits and enrolls first time and transfer students from Michigan, 40 states and 20 countries. With representatives in Michigan and in regional locations, the Director of Recruitment will coordinate a recruitment strategy for undergraduate and graduate programs to enroll domestic US and international first-time freshmen, transfer and graduate students. They will use data to strategically support the goal of expanding access to art and design education among students of a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences. The successful candidate will lead with vision and compassion and will have a willingness to engage, collaborate and add fuel to a synergistic working community that respects individual knowledge, asks questions, challenges assumptions, finds new ways to approach a problem and encourages others to do the same.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversee the development, implementation, management and assessment of comprehensive recruitment and outreach plans, and associated budget.
  • Provide clear, strategic leadership to meet the recruitment, outreach and enrollment goals of the college for undergraduate and graduate programs.
  • Define, track and report on appropriate metrics to evaluate ROI for recruitment initiatives, assess outcomes, and revise strategies and practices accordingly.
  • Co-develop and manage recruitment goals and projections, enrollment consultants, and search sites and strategies.
  • Supervise the recruitment team in campus recruiting activities such as presentations, career fairs, webinars, info sessions, office and campus interviews, conferences and other platforms as needed domestically and internationally.
  • Monitor recruitment travel and associated expenditures to create annual reports that evaluate recruitment effectiveness.
  • Lead with empathy, establish and maintain accountability strategies for the team, and maintain a focus on professional and personal growth.
  • Create and ensure equitable recruitment and admission practices, and make final admission decisions.
  • Hire and supervise both local and regionally-based Admissions Counselors who cover recruitment territories in the U.S. and the world.
  • Conduct regularly scheduled meetings with recruitment team members to discuss and measure progress toward enrollment goals and evaluate the key metrics of prospective student leads and inquiries; appointments; events, applications, accepted and deposited students.
  • Develop and oversee both initial and ongoing training, as well as professional development for effective recruitment strategies and techniques.
  • Work collaboratively with academic programs, faculty and the college community, and present enrollment information for the institution as needed.
  • Identify and coordinate opportunities to connect prospective students with members of the campus community, such as faculty, staff, current students, and alumni, as appropriate to their needs, interests, and college search stage.
  • Represents the office on appropriate College committees.
  • Maintains an active role with appropriate professional organizations.
  • Develop, support and maintain effective relationships with art educators, high schools and independent counselors, community colleges, professional and local community organizations to support recruitment, admissions and outreach initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team to produce enrollment marketing collaterals, Admissions presentation and communications for prospect-committed new students.
  • Prepare Admissions Reports and present Admissions and Recruitment reports at both campus and off-campus engagements.
  • Attend and support CCS on-site and off-site Admissions events.
  • Participate in recruitment activities and events, along with local or domestic travel, as needed.
  • Ability to take initiative and independently plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations where numerous and diverse demands are involved.
  • Engages and collaborates with other Enrollment Service division offices to support a clear and supportive on-boarding experience for students and recognizes the value of strong pipeline development through academic and experience-based programming.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Qualifications: 
  • Seven or more years of relevant professional experience in higher education.
  • Budget management and financial reporting.
  • Proficient computer skills to include GoogleSuite, Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint, CRM experience.
  • Data analysis and management.
  • Excellent speaking, presentation, writing and communication skills.
  • Self-starter with ability to handle multiple projects, changing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
  • Comfortable making informed decisions within stated guidelines.
  • Ability to travel within the US and internationally for work related events, travel to and from off-site meetings or trainings. 
  • Some weekend and evening hours required. 
  • Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Experience working with TargetX or Slate CRM systems.
  • Art or Design degree or education at the college level.
  • Experience working with student recruitment and/or admission processes.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job operates in a professional office and college campus environment.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to maintain a stationary position, use a computer and other office equipment, and communicate effectively in person, by phone, and virtually.  Frequent interaction with others, including staff, faculty, students and third parties is required.  The employee may occasionally be required to move files or other objects weighing up to 25 pounds, including from low and high places.  The ability to move around within the office and between buildings on campus, attend off-site meetings and events, and travel between Ford Campus site to Taubman Center site are required.  CCS will make reasonable accommodations that will allow individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The role requires some domestic US and international travel for work-related events, travel to and from off-site meetings or training, and some weekend and evening hours.
