The Director of Relational Experience is primarily responsible for leading the strategy, development, and execution of YouVersion’s events and relational experiences. This role owns the full arc of event strategy—from vision and programming to on-the-ground production—ensuring experiences are aligned to the mission and executed with excellence. The Director oversees events of all sizes, from intimate gatherings to large-scale domestic and international convenings, providing leadership, direction, and consistency across all relational experiences.
The Director is responsible for collaborating with their CTL/CML to cast vision, provide direction, and lead ministry efforts within their area of influence to outcomes that further Life.Church’s mission and reach people for Christ.
What You'll Do
Develop Relational Experience Strategy
- Define and implement YouVersion's relational experience philosophy and programming strategy across domestic and international contexts.
- Establish the vision for how events serve the mission—from international Hub launches to partner gatherings to small-scale meetings.
- Lead post-event reviews to capture insights and continuously raise the standard.
Lead Event Programming & Production
- Lead end-to-end event programming for YouVersion events, partnering with teams such as Platform, Donor Relations, Partnerships, and others.
- Adapt programming and production scale to fit each context—from high-touch international launches to intimate partner dinners to larger gatherings.
- Serve as the on-site event producer, owning real-time decisions and the end-to-end attender experience from arrival to departure.
- Manage run-of-show documents, briefing materials, and day-of coordination across stakeholders.
- Provide clear direction on event assets—signage, stage design, and environment—partnering with vendors, Marketing, and stakeholders to shape each experience.
- Anticipate and resolve issues proactively, maintaining calm authority under pressure.
- Serve as the on-site event producer, owning real-time decisions and the end-to-end attender experience, including hosting and engaging senior leaders and VIP guests.
Drive Cross-Team Alignment
- Serve as the primary liaison between the Relational Experience team, partner functions (Marketing, Creative, Communications, Operations), and supported YouVersion teams (Partnerships, Global Impact, Platform, Donor Relations, etc.).
- Drive alignment on timelines, deliverables, and shared goals, ensuring clear communication so each team member understands their role and is equipped to succeed.
Skills Needed to Succeed
- Ability to take a great vision and turn it into reality through strategic execution.
- Strategic thinker with a passion for moving the mission forward.
- Strong leadership skills and understanding of developing and guiding others.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to foster relationships and inspire action.
- Excellent management, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lead others with an innovative and motivational mentality.
- Bachelors degree in a related field.
- 5 years of experience in event production, experiential marketing, or relational programming.
- Ability to produce high-quality live events across a range of scales.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing complex stakeholder relationships.
- Experience with international events, office launches, or cross-cultural experiences strongly preferred.
