Job Description
Position Summary
The Director of Revenue Accounting leads all revenue-related accounting for the company’s home health, hospice, and home care services. This role ensures accurate, compliant revenue recognition under U.S. GAAP, ASC 606, CMS rules, and SOX 404. The ideal candidate has strong technical accounting expertise, deep knowledge of healthcare reimbursement, and the ability to partner across operations, billing, finance, and executive teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Revenue Recognition & Technical Accounting
Oversee end-to-end revenue accounting for Home Health (PDGM), Hospice (Medicare per‑diem, caps), and Home Care/Personal Care programs.
Own ASC 606 technical positions, policies, and revenue models.
Approve monthly revenue entries, reconciliations, and reserves.
Ensure accurate Medicare/Medicaid reporting, including allowances, LUPA/RAP impacts, hospice cap accruals, and settlement reserves.
Support quarterly/annual audit processes.
SOX Controls & Compliance
Build and maintain SOX‑compliant revenue and billing controls.
Manage documentation, testing, and remediation with Internal Audit.
Strengthen controls across billing systems and integrations.
Leadership & Collaboration
Lead and develop the revenue accounting team.
Partner with Revenue Cycle, FP&A, Clinical Ops, Compliance, and IT.
Support M&A due diligence, integrations, and system conversions.
Month-End Close & Reporting
Oversee timely, accurate revenue close.
Deliver analytics, trends, and variance insights to leadership.
Review internal/external financial reporting and support forecasting.
Systems & Process Improvement
Drive automation and standardization across revenue workflows.
Improve financial system integrations and data integrity.
Lead ongoing process improvements for better visibility and reporting.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
Bachelor’s in Accounting/Finance; CPA required.
8+ years progressive accounting experience, including 3+ in leadership.
Strong ASC 606 and healthcare revenue expertise.
Public company/SOX 404 experience.
Knowledge of home health, hospice, and Medicaid/managed care reimbursement.
Preferred
Big Four or national firm experience.
Experience with post‑acute systems (HCHB, MatrixCare, KanTime, WellSky).
Multi‑state healthcare operations and M&A integration experience.
