This role is ideal for an experienced veterinary professional who is passionate about team development, clinical excellence, and creating an environment where both patients and team members can thrive.This role offers an opportunity for an experienced RVT leader to expand their impact beyond individual patient care by developing teams, improving systems, and helping shape the future of specialty nursing operations.Why Join Our TeamAs the Director of Specialty Nursing, you will play a key role in supporting the success of our specialty services by developing talented veterinary professionals, improving department workflows, and ensuring our teams have the structure and support needed to deliver exceptional care.You will partner closely with hospital leadership, specialty doctors, and nursing teams to promote collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced specialty environment.What You'll DoLeadership & Team DevelopmentProvide leadership and support to specialty nursing and technician teams across multiple specialty services.Build a positive, accountable, and collaborative team culture.Coach team members, support professional growth, and develop future leaders.Partner with leadership on performance management, feedback, and employee development.Lead team by working alongside them 50% of the time, remaining 50% working on admin projects

Operations & Workflow ManagementOversee daily specialty nursing operations to support safe, efficient patient care.Partner with leadership to ensure appropriate staffing, scheduling, and resource management.Identify opportunities to improve workflows, communication, and operational effectiveness.Support department priorities while maintaining a strong focus on patient care.Training & Clinical ExcellenceLead onboarding and training initiatives for specialty nursing teams.Support consistent training practices and competency development.Ensure team members have the skills and resources needed to provide high-quality patient care.Promote adherence to hospital standards, safety practices, and clinical protocols.Collaboration & Hospital LeadershipPartner with the Medical Director, Hospital Director, Emergency Nursing Director, and leadership team.Participate in leadership discussions and hospital initiatives.Provide recommendations related to nursing operations, team development, and process improvement.What You BringRegistered Veterinary Technician (RVT) credential required.Minimum of 2 years of veterinary specialty or advanced clinical experience preferred.Previous leadership or supervisory experience required.Strong understanding of specialty veterinary workflows and patient care operations.Experience with veterinary hospital systems, including EzyVet and VetRadar, preferred.RECOVER BLS & ALS certification preferred.Fear Free certification preferred.Commitment to continued learning and professional development.The Ideal CandidateYou are a veterinary professional who:Enjoys developing and supporting others.Can balance clinical knowledge with operational leadership.Communicates effectively across teams and disciplines.Approaches challenges with curiosity, accountability, and a solutions-focused mindset.Is passionate about creating an exceptional experience for patients, clients, and team members.Work EnvironmentThis position works in a fast-paced specialty veterinary hospital environment and requires collaboration with medical teams, nursing teams, and hospital leadership.
