Helping Law Firm Owners Scale Through Strategic Relationships

About How To Manage A Small Law Firm (HTM)

At How To Manage A Small Law Firm (HTM), we help solo and small law firm owners transform their firms from stressful practices into scalable, profitable businesses.

We believe meaningful growth happens through trust, relationships, and strategic partnerships — not cold calls or transactional sales tactics.

We are seeking a Director of Strategic Partnerships to help expand our national presence within the legal industry.

About the Role

This is not a traditional sales position.

As Director of Strategic Partnerships, you will build long-term, high-trust relationships with legal organizations, referral partners, consultants, and law firm leaders across the country.

You will represent HTM at conferences, networking events, and industry gatherings while developing partnerships that create lasting value for both our organization and the attorneys we serve.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in relationship-driven environments and enjoys building meaningful professional connections.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage strategic partnerships within the legal industry
  • Build relationships with referral sources, legal organizations, and business partners
  • Represent HTM at conferences, networking events, and partner meetings
  • Identify opportunities to expand HTM's national presence and referral network
  • Collaborate with internal leadership on partnership and growth strategy
  • Maintain and strengthen long-term professional relationships
  • Track partnership activity and growth opportunities

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in business development, strategic partnerships, executive recruiting, consulting, or relationship management
  • Strong networking and relationship-building skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Experience working with business owners, executives, or professional services preferred
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment
  • Comfortable traveling for conferences, meetings, and events
  • Professional presence with strong organization and follow-through

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate:

  • Builds trust naturally and communicates with confidence
  • Enjoys networking and creating long-term professional relationships
  • Thinks strategically rather than transactionally
  • Operates with autonomy, ownership, and accountability
  • Brings emotional intelligence and strong business acumen
  • Is energized by helping businesses grow and succeed

What We Are NOT Looking For

This role is not a fit if you:

  • Prefer highly scripted sales environments or rigid daily direction
  • Rely on high-volume outreach instead of relationship quality
  • Dislike networking, conferences, or in-person professional engagement
  • Need close supervision or constant instruction to perform
  • View business development as purely transactional
  • Struggle with ambiguity, autonomy, or building structure independently
  • Prefer a predictable desk-based routine over relationship-driven work
  • Are uncomfortable engaging with attorneys, executives, or business owners
  • Lack consistency or follow-through in managing long-term relationships

We are seeking someone who values trust, credibility, and long-term partnership building — and understands that meaningful relationships create lasting business impact.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive base salary
  • Performance-based incentive structure
  • Fully remote work environment
  • Opportunity for growth within a nationally recognized company
  • Entrepreneurial, high-trust team culture

Location & Travel

This position is fully remote; however, candidates must reside in one of the following states:

AZ, CO, FL, GA, IL, MD, MI, NC, NJ, NY, PA, TX, VA, or WA.

Travel is required for conferences, networking events, and partner meetings.

Why Join HTM?

HTM has been recognized as an INC 5000 company for four consecutive years because we invest in people who create meaningful impact.

If you are passionate about relationship-building, strategic growth, and helping law firm owners succeed, we encourage you to apply.

We look forward to learning more about your experience and the partnerships you've built throughout your career.
