- Manage and review complex federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, trusts, and estates.
- Oversee engagement planning, execution, and delivery to ensure deadlines and quality standards are met.
- Review workpapers, tax returns, and related deliverables prepared by staff and managers.
- Ensure compliance with tax laws, regulations, and professional standards.
- Provide proactive tax planning strategies to privately held businesses, high-net-worth individuals, and family groups.
- Research, analyze, and resolve complex tax issues and communicate recommendations to clients.
- Advise clients on business transactions, entity structures, mergers and acquisitions, succession planning, and other tax-sensitive matters.
- Stay current with changing tax laws and regulations and educate clients and internal teams on potential impacts.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for key client relationships.
- Develop and maintain trusted advisor relationships with clients and business partners.
- Identify opportunities for additional services and assist with business development efforts.
- Participate in networking events, professional organizations, and community outreach initiatives.
- Mentor, coach, and develop tax staff, seniors, and managers.
- Provide ongoing performance feedback and training to support professional growth.
- Assist with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and retention initiatives.
- Foster a collaborative, positive, and high-performance team environment.
- Manage multiple client engagements, budgets, staffing, and workflow priorities.
- Monitor engagement profitability and identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Collaborate with firm leadership on strategic initiatives and practice development efforts.
- Assist with establishing departmental best practices and quality control procedures.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Taxation, Finance, Economics, or related field.
- Master's degree in Taxation preferred.
- Active CPA license required.
- 8+ years of recent public accounting tax experience.
- Previous supervisory or management experience required.
- Demonstrated experience reviewing complex tax returns and managing client relationships.
- Advanced knowledge of federal, state, and local taxation.
- Strong tax research and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent leadership, mentoring, and team management skills.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
- Client-service driven with strong business acumen.
- Proficiency with tax software and Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.
- Experience working with closely held businesses and high-net-worth individuals.
- Exposure to multi-state taxation, tax planning, and advisory services.
- Experience with CCH, ProSystem fx, Axcess, Thomson Reuters, or similar tax software.
- Business development and client acquisition experience.
