As our first U.S.-based finance hire, this role presents a unique opportunity to build the technical accounting and SEC reporting foundation that will support the company’s transition to a fully public-company-ready environment over the next 12–24 months.This is a highly visible, hands-on role for an entrepreneurial accounting leader who thrives in a build environment and wants to play a foundational role in shaping the U.S. finance function.Why join us?Base Salary: $225,000 – $275,000Annual Bonus: 15%Participation in global stock option program401(k) planHealth insuranceLife insuranceJob DetailsKey Responsibilities1. SEC Reporting & Public Company Readiness (Primary Focus: First 12–24 Months)Lead preparation and review of SEC filings, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, and proxy statementsEstablish SEC reporting timelines, processes, and documentationEnsure full compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC regulationsPartner with the publicly traded Danish parent company to align U.S. reporting requirementsDevelop and maintain accounting policies and technical memosServe as the primary liaison with external auditors on U.S. GAAP and SEC mattersBuild the foundation for a scalable public-company reporting functionMust-Have Expertise:Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAPStrong SEC reporting experience (10-K, 10-Q, proxy statements)Public-company reporting experience (biotech preferred)2. Clinical Trial & Operational Accounting (Ongoing / Non-Quarterly Periods)When not in active reporting cycles, this role will be deeply involved in operational accounting, including:Hands-on clinical trial accrual accountingPartnering directly with CROs to review contracts, milestones, and trial spendManaging accrual calculations and documentationSupporting expansion of clinical trial accounting into AuxiliusEnsuring proper financial reporting as additional trials are onboardedExperience in clinical-stage biotech or listed biotech companies is strongly preferred.3. Equity, Payroll & Systems ImplementationSupport implementation of a stock option administration systemAssist with administration and accounting for global equity programsProvide oversight and internal control review of U.S. payroll (execution may be outsourced)Support system enhancements within Microsoft 365 environmentParticipate in finance infrastructure build-out as the U.S. organization scales4. SOX & Internal Controls Development (Approx. 1/3 of Role Over Time)Partner with Senior Finance Manager to design and implement internal controlsBuild SOX-compliant processes and documentationEstablish control frameworks across accounting, payroll, equity, and financial reportingEnsure sustainable governance as the company scalesCritical Competency:A strong internal controls mindset is absolutely essential.QualificationsCPA strongly preferred8–12+ years of progressive accounting experienceSignificant SEC reporting experience (10-K, 10-Q, proxy)Deep U.S. GAAP expertiseExperience in biotech, clinical-stage, or publicly listed life sciences company preferredStrong internal controls and SOX readiness experienceExperience working with global parent organizations a plusFamiliarity with clinical trial accounting systems (e.g., Auxilius) preferredExperience overseeing U.S. payroll from an internal controls perspectiveExperience with stock-based compensation programs preferredIdeal Candidate ProfileEntrepreneurial and comfortable building from scratchHands-on and execution-oriented — willing to “roll up sleeves”Thrives in ambiguity and growth environmentsHighly detail-oriented with strong technical depthStrong cross-functional communicatorComfortable operating without direct reportsMotivated by long-term infrastructure building rather than team management (for now)Interested in hearing more?
