OVERVIEW:

The Director of Training & Development is responsible for leading and executing Encore Electric's enterprise-wide employee training and development strategy. This role oversees leadership development, career development, Encore University, training and certification programs, readiness and succession planning, and all all other employee development initiatives. The Director ensures that development efforts are aligned with Encore's business strategy, culture, and future workforce needs

Compensation for this role: $180,000 to $200,000 Based on Experience

Specific Responsibilities

Structure & Process

  • Design and implement a comprehensive leadership and development framework that ensures the right talent is ready at the right time to meet business demands
  • Implement targeted and enterprise-wide development programs
  • Establish clear career paths for both hourly and salaried employees
  • Leverage multiple development modalities, including formal training, mentoring, coaching, and on-the-job learning
  • Build and manage readiness and succession planning processes aligned to business needs

Content Creation

  • Identify, design, and develop learning content aligned with current and future business requirements
  • Partner with external vendors and subject matter experts to source or customize development programs
  • Develop Encore-specific training and development content where appropriate
  • Evaluate and refresh existing learning content to ensure relevance, quality, and alignment
  • Create frameworks to align employees to appropriate development experiences based on role, readiness, and future potential, including accelerated development paths

Employee Alignment & Culture

  • Ensure Encore's culture and values are embedded in all training and development programs
  • Partner with key stakeholders across the organization to align development initiatives with business processes, including:

o Safety

o Project Resources

o Compensation and Benefits

o Succession Planning

o Operations

  • Ensure development programs support workforce planning, performance, and retention goals

Communication & Change Management

  • Design and execute a comprehensive communication strategy to build awareness, understanding, and adoption of training and development programs
  • Partner with executive leadership to ensure alignment, sponsorship, and engagement
  • Lead change management efforts related to new or evolving development initiatives

Other duties as may be assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of:

  • Industry best practices in leadership development frameworks and talent development strategies
  • Adult learning principles, instructional design, and digital learning technologies
  • Readiness and succession planning models and best practices
  • General familiarity with safety training standards (e.g., OSHA, MSHA)
  • Understanding of training and development within construction, engineering, or skilled trades environments

Skill in:

  • Conceptual estimating (conceiving a project in your mind and all the components of that project)
  • Proven ability to design and deliver training programs for both hourly field employees and salaried professionals
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and relationship-building skills at all organizational levels
  • Experience partnering with external vendors and internal stakeholders
  • Ability to develop and implement large scale change management processes

Ability to:

  • Build and execute complex projects and programs, all the way from concept to final deliverables
  • Align learning and development initiatives with organizational growth and workforce needs • Measure, evaluate, and communicate the impact of training programs
  • Work effectively across HR, Operations, Safety, and leadership teams
  • Leverage technology and creative solutions to enhance learning delivery

REQUIREMENTS:

The ideal candidate brings a minimum of 10 years of experience leading teams or organizations, with a proven track record of successfully executing large, complex programs and projects across multiple geographies. They have at least 5 years of experience facilitating training or development programs within medium to large, complex organizations and are comfortable working with both hourly and salaried employee populations. Experience within the construction or skilled trades industry is highly valued. Additionally, the candidate demonstrates strong expertise in designing and implementing enterprise-wide training and development programs that drive organizational effectiveness.
