Job Description
This Director of Surgical Services role is based in Anchorage, Alaska at a 250-plus-bed regional medical center recognized with 5-star ratings for heart attack treatment, bowel obstruction treatment, and colorectal surgery. The hospital is part of a network of more than 300 affiliate facilities nationwide, and Anchorage sits at the gateway to some of North America's most dramatic wilderness and year-round outdoor recreation.The role. The Director of Surgical Services has full oversight of the surgical services department, including staffing, operations, volume forecasting, and budget management. In this role you will identify and implement evidence-based practices to advance patient safety and quality outcomes, manage clinical practice variation to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness, and ensure compliance with all applicable legal and regulatory standards. You will direct nursing practice and establish policies, procedures, and clinical standards that address patient and family needs across the continuum of surgical care. Collaborating closely with physicians and the administrative team, you will also evaluate opportunities to expand or develop new surgical service lines and drive departmental growth. On the financial side, you will lead the annual budget process, monitor performance against targets, and manage labor and supply expenses to close identified gaps.What we're looking for.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required
- Master's Degree preferred
- 1+ years of recent acute care Director of Surgical Services experience required
- 3+ years of acute care Surgical Services experience required
