Part-time Discipleship Minister.Job Description and Responsibilities:Purpose:The discipleship minister is responsible for equipping God’s people to do his work and empower members to be active in the church and community. This position will also oversee all discipleship initiatives of the church, including small groups, and engage in activities that help members grow and mature in their faith. The discipleship minister will also be responsible for all guest services, outreach, and other activities that ensure everyone has an excellent impression of Tower Grove Church.Expectations:
  • Growing personal relationship in Christ by spending daily time with God.
  • A love for God and His people.
  • Extensive knowledge of God’s Word.
  • The ability to preach and teach.
  • Proven skills in leading volunteers.
  • Strong skills in working with a diverse background of people.
  • Proven skills in developing small groups.
  • A heart for discipleship.
  • Urban environment experience.
  • The heart and skills to reach non-church/ goers (Millennials & Generation X).
  • Develop inroads into the Shaw Neighborhood .
Job Functions:
  • Develop Tower Grove’s Discipleship ministry as the primary avenue for spiritual growth.
  • Work with senior pastor in developing goals, and vision for ministries within the church.
  • Develop benchmarks for spiritual growth of all groups.
  • Recruit, train, and develop leaders to create additional Groups.
  • Recommend curriculum for Groups.
  • Ensure sound doctrine is consistent and taught within all groups.
  • Teach weekly a Discipleship Class.
  • Oversee attendance records.
  • Work with the Children’s, Youth, and Adult ministry to create a cohesive discipleship plan.
  • Work closely with our Burmese and Congolese Congregations in creating a continued strategic alignment.
About Tower Grove Christian Academy:

What began as a small ministry of Tower Grove Church, now boasts an enrollment of nearly 300 students from infancy through 8th grade, serving families from St. Louis, Jefferson, Franklin, and St. Charles counties, as well as the City of St. Louis and western Illinois. Tower Grove Christian Academy provides a preschool program where children play, learn, experiment, and grow at their own rate. We also provides a challenging and comprehensive elementary and middle school program. TGCA develops competence in Bible, English, fine and practical arts, mathematics, physical education, technology, health, science and social studies, and prepares students for success at the high school level. We want to serve our community through intentional teaching and discipling the children and students who walk through our doors.
