Dispatch Manager – Waste & Environmental Services

Company Overview: Our client, a premier provider in the waste management industry, is seeking a seasoned and highly organized Dispatch Manager to oversee the dispatching operations. The company is dedicated to providing efficient and reliable waste collection services, and the Dispatch Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring that these services are delivered with precision and professionalism.

Job Summary: The Dispatch Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily dispatching operations, managing a team of dispatchers, and ensuring that all routes and services are executed efficiently. This role involves coordinating with drivers, optimizing routes, handling escalated customer issues, and maintaining high standards of service delivery. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in dispatching, strong leadership abilities, and a background in logistics or waste management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Management: Lead, train, and manage a team of dispatchers, ensuring they perform their duties efficiently and effectively.
  • Route Optimization: Oversee the assignment and optimization of collection routes to ensure maximum efficiency and timely completion of services.
  • Operational Oversight: Monitor daily dispatch operations, making real-time adjustments to address any delays, equipment issues, or unexpected challenges.
  • Customer Service Management: Handle escalated customer service issues, working to resolve them promptly and satisfactorily.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to dispatch efficiency, route completion, and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Operations Manager, drivers, and other team members to ensure seamless coordination and communication across departments.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure all dispatch activities adhere to safety regulations and company policies, conducting regular audits and training sessions as needed.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve dispatching processes, implementing best practices to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports on dispatch operations to senior management, highlighting any issues, successes, and areas for improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in dispatching or logistics, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role, preferably within the waste management industry.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; a degree in logistics, business management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Strong leadership and team management skills.
    • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
    • Proficiency in dispatch software, GPS systems, and other relevant tools.
    • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Ability to work under pressure and handle complex situations with professionalism.
    • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Licenses/Certifications: A valid driver's license is required.
