Title: Distribution Engineering DesignerLocation: Gastonia, NCHire Type: Contract-to-Hire (6–12 months conversion)Salary: $25–$35/hr (based on experience)Benefits: Medical, dental, vision
Sterling Engineering is looking for a Distribution Engineering Designer to support electric utility distribution projects. This opportunity is with a growing engineering services team supporting major utility infrastructure work.
Job Duties:
- Produce CAD-based electric distribution design drawings and Bills of Material (BOM).
- Perform field data collection using standard tools, methods, and processes.
- Support utility relocation, subdivision services, service drops, and service audits.
- Participate in scheduled safety meetings and adhere to safety standards.
- Support distribution design projects for Duke Energy.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of distribution design experience (5+ years for higher pay range).
- Experience supporting electric utility distribution projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program preferred.
- FE certification counts toward experience; PE license preferred.
- Experience with Maximo or similar utility systems preferred.
- Ability to work onsite in Gastonia, NC.
