Job Description
Our client is actively seeking a Domestic Abuse Victim Advocate (DAVA) to support the Air Force's New Parent Support Program, focused on preventing family maltreatment. This is a mission-critical role providing confidential, non-clinical support to service members, their families, and intimate partners experiencing domestic abuse.
Position Overview
The DAVA serves as a trusted, confidential resource, delivering immediate and ongoing advocacy services. This role focuses on victim safety, empowerment, and coordination of care, while working alongside military and community partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide emergent and ongoing advocacy support to victims of domestic abuse
- Develop and implement individualized safety plans
- Empower victims to make informed decisions and set short- and long-term goals
- Connect clients with military and civilian resources
- Accompany victims to medical, legal, or court appointments as needed
- Collaborate with treatment teams, case managers, and base agencies to ensure coordinated care
- Maintain communication with designated points of contact during service delivery
- Support prevention efforts and continuously improve response systems
Schedule & Work Environment
- Full-time, 40-hour work week (typically 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM)
- On-call coverage required, including after-hours response
- Flexible schedule based on victim needs
- Occasional after-hours telework when in-person support is not required
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Criminal Justice, or related field
- Minimum of 2+ years of advocacy experience
- Strong ability to manage sensitive situations with professionalism and confidentiality
- Excellent communication, crisis response, and decision-making skills
Additional Requirements
- Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance
- Must obtain the Basic Advocate Credential (Comprehensive Intervention Specialist) within 6 months of hire
- Willingness to comply with federal health and vaccination requirements
