Job Title: Drill and Shovel MechanicLocation: Kearny, AZJob Type: Full-Time
Job Overview:Turner Staffing Group is partnered with a mining company in Kearny, Arizona that is seeking an experienced Drill and Shovel Mechanic to join their maintenance team. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing large mining drills and electric or hydraulic shovels to ensure safe and efficient production at the mine site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on large production drills and electric or hydraulic mining shovels
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on heavy mining equipment
- Conduct preventive maintenance inspections to identify wear, damage, or potential failures
- Repair or replace components including engines, pumps, hydraulic cylinders, gearboxes, and electrical systems
- Read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and service documentation
- Complete work orders and maintenance documentation accurately and in a timely manner
- Work closely with operations teams to minimize equipment downtime and maintain production schedules
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment and follow all company and MSHA safety standards
- Assist with major component changes and rebuilds when required
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred
- 3–5+ years of experience maintaining large mining equipment, specifically drills and/or shovels
- Experience with OEM equipment such as Bucyrus, Caterpillar, Komatsu, P&H, or similar mining equipment preferred
- Strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and heavy equipment components
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Valid driver's license required
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, dust, and noise
- Ability to climb, kneel, bend, and work in elevated or confined areas as required
Schedule:
- Schedule may include rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed
