Job Description
Summary
The Driver is responsible for the transportation of center members in a safe, timely and courteous manner to and from the day center, to and from appointments, and on field trips. This position is also responsible for the safety and maintenance of the vehicles according to organizational policy and for approaching his/her responsibilities with a positive, professional, and caring attitude.

I) Internal Sales Process:
a. professionally represents Buena Vida ADHC at all times
b. Interacts appropriately with caregivers, families, coworkers, and clients to promote customer satisfaction
c. Attire includes the Buena Vida ADHC designated uniform for drivers, which is clean, neat, and in good repair, presenting a positive appearance to the public at all times, and name badges.
Il) Operations
a. Adheres to all organizational policies related to the safe transport of members, including the proper use of seatbelts and tie-downs
b. Assists member on and off the vans and to and from their homes and the center according to company policy
c. Obeys all traffic regulations; uses caution and defensive driving techniques
d. Completes and ensures the accuracy of the Driver Route and Log Sheet per organizational policy and according to established timeframes
*The driver is NOT to change their route or the patients on their route. Only the personnel appointed by the Dispatcher are allowed to make changes and assignments.
e. Reports needed repairs and keeps accurate records of van maintenance — Must perform a daily check of all buses (Check gas, check oil)
f. Maintains vehicle emergency equipment (first aid kit and fire extinguisher). In the event of an emergency, follow emergency procedures.
g. Maintains van interior and exterior cleanliness
h. The responsibility of filling the gas in the bus is that of the driver who is driving the bus at the time the fuel is low. Do not leave a low tank for the next driver. If it is less than % tan,k it needs to be filled up.
i. Maintains a smoke-free environment on the van
j. Reports any major delays or problems arising during transporting members to the Dispatcher
k. Implements and follows all procedures and standards as outlined in the transportation section of the policies and procedures binder.
I. Participates in the discussion of new members, understands the physical capabilities of each member
m. Identifies and communicates changes in the member's condition to
management
n. Identifies and communicates environmental problems at members' homes to management
p. Assists with or participates in center activities or field trips as needed, including toileting and safety supervision of clients
q. Participates in daily staff meetings
r. Drives the vans in a way that demonstrates safety and courtesy to all members of the community
s. Immediately reports all driving violations to the Dispatcher, whether they occur on or off the job.
t. Maintains a satisfactory yearly Motor Vehicle Record check
u. Proper use of transfer techniques
v. Maintains current CPR and First Aid status
w. Reports accidents and incidents to the Dispatcher immediately
x. Assist with translation when needed
y. Must perform tasks assigned by Lead Driver, Property Manager, or Dispatcher
z. Must take out trash when needed. Running errands for Buena Vida — Grocery shopping, office depot, etc.
Ill) Qualifications as required by specific states: (check all that apply)
O State required Defensive Driving Program
O Department of Transportation Physical Card for a physician (DOT)
O TB test
O Drug Test
O Alcohol Test
O Certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation CPR, AED and basic first aid
O Completed a Public Passenger Assistance Course within 90 days of hire (PAT) and DIAL training
IV) Compliance
a. Abides by the standards identified in Buena Vida ADHC's Compliance Plan, HIPAA, and Medicaid regulations

Language and Communication Skills:
Advanced interpersonal and communication skills to secure cooperation, interpret policies, exchange information, and provide professional judgments in continuous contact with management personnel, colleague managers, and other employees; contacts with medical staff, and representatives of outside agencies or groups, clients, families, vendors, and the public. Works with a range of adult clients of various ages with multiple types of health care needs. Ability to listen attentively and speak clearly and distinctly in receiving and responding to inquiries.
