Work Schedule: Varies as needed, substitute position

A Day in the Life of a CDL Driver:

  • Provides safe transportation to individuals receiving services to and from various programs at The Arc Wayne.
  • Provides transportation to persons receiving services to other locations, as necessary.
  • Completes daily vehicle inspection checklist.
  • Records accurate mileage and codes as they pertain to the use of Agency vehicles.
  • Provides proper care and maintenance of assigned vehicle.
  • Informs the Transportation Coordinator of needed vehicle repairs, preventative maintenance, state inspection, etc.
  • Monitors behaviors of persons receiving services during transport and communicates to the Transportation Coordinator any issues that require follow-up or management intervention.
  • Abides by the rules and regulations of the New York State Department of Transportation and The Arc Wayne.
  • Immediately reports to the Transportation Coordinator any incident(s) that occur on the vehicle.
  • Ensures that agency vehicles are utilized for business purposes only.
  • Meets all established licensing requirements.
  • Attends all safety trainings and requirements; i.e. first aid, emergency evacuation, etc.
  • Completes certification/recertification process as stated in the Agency Transportation and Driver Safety Policy.
  • Transports goods to and from designated locations(s) as required.
  • Attends all required trainings
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Who We Are Looking For:

  • High School Diploma or GED and one year experience in driving vehicles with gross vehicle weight (GVW) of 26,000 lbs. or over.
  • Must be able to pass Article 19-A (NYS-DMV) physical.
  • Must possess a valid NYS Commercial Driver's License Class B with Passenger (P) endorsement that meets Agency Driver standards.
