Job Description
- Bachelor’s degree in applicable field of education from an accredited college or university.
- Option 1: Elem. KG-6 or Elem. 1-6 with Bilingual Dual Language- Spanish
- Option 2: Elem. KG-6 or Elem. 1-6 with Any MS Content Area Ext. 5-8 with Bilingual Dual Language- Spanish
- Option 3:Any MS Content Area 5-8 with Bilingual Dual Language- Spanish
- Option 4:Any Secondary Content Area 7-12 with Any MS Content Area Ext. 5-8 with Bilingual Dual Language- Spanish
- Fully certified or eligible for emergency certification (fully certified preferred).
- Completion of new hire compliance training prior to start date.
- Bilingual candidates preferred.
- Successful completion of pre-employment background check required.
- Strong technology skills and familiarity with communication, presentation, and data management tools.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
- Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active and engaging learning that are aligned to the goals of Bilingual/Dual Language Education.
- Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment, using relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction in English and Spanish.
- Establish and communicate clear language and content objectives for all learning activities and provide appropriate feedback on assignments.
- Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing a warm, welcoming, and culturally relevant environment.
- Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students in English and Spanish and regularly use data to observe and evaluate student performance and development in both languages to adjust teaching strategies.
- Maintain and update accurate and complete records of students' progress and development in both languages.
- Communicate information regularly to students, colleagues, and families regarding student progress and student needs in the preferred language of the family.
- Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities to support all students in Spanish and English
- Actively participate in and contribute to department, school, district and parent meetings and professional development to build knowledge of pedagogy around teaching for biliteracy, bilingualism and sociocultural competence.
- Assign and grade classwork, homework, tests, and assignments according to state standards in English and Spanish according to the program model.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
The Providence Public School District (PPSD) serves approximately 22,000 students attending our 37 schools. PPSD employs more than 3,200 professionals who work in and provide support to our schools, which include 21 elementary schools, 7 middle schools, 9 high schools and 2 public district charter schools.
