Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital (NVRH) is seeking an experienced Echocardiology Technologist to join our Diagnostic Imaging team, which is committed to excellence, collaboration, and patient-centered care. About This Role As an Echocardiographer, you will perform high-quality diagnostic echocardiography studies for inpatient, outpatient, emergency department, and surgical patients. You'll use your expertise to obtain diagnostic cardiac ultrasound images and measurements that support the detection, diagnosis, and treatment of cardiovascular disease. This role requires independent judgment, strong technical skills, and a commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care. Whether you are performing routine studies, identifying significant findings, or collaborating with physicians to support timely care decisions, your work will play a vital role in improving patients' lives throughout our region. Key Responsibilities Perform high-quality transthoracic echocardiograms, limited studies, contrast studies, and bubble studies according to departmental protocols and professional standards. Produce accurate cardiac measurements and diagnostic-quality images for interpretation by cardiologists while ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the examination process. Utilize clinical judgment to evaluate patient history, optimize imaging, recognize significant abnormalities, and communicate urgent findings when appropriate. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support efficient patient care across inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and surgical settings. Required Qualifications Graduate of an accredited Cardiac Sonography, Echocardiography, or Diagnostic Medical Sonography program. Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) through ARDMS or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) through CCI required. Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association is required. Minimum one year of echocardiography experience required. Travel experience required. Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, pathology, Doppler principles, and echocardiographic imaging techniques. Preferred Skills Excellent communication and patient care skills. Strong organizational and computer skills. Ability to work independently while maintaining collaborative relationships with physicians and care teams. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Commitment to quality, safety, and exceptional patient experiences. About NVRH Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital is located in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, in the heart of the Northeast Kingdom. We are a community not-for-profit acute-care critical-access hospital dedicated to providing exceptional care close to home. The organization offers primary and preventive care, surgical and specialty services, inpatient and outpatient care, and 24-hour, physician-staffed emergency services. NVRH serves more than 33,000 residents throughout Caledonia and southern Essex Counties and employs over 700 dedicated staff members. Surrounded by mountains, lakes, trails, and vibrant local communities, the Northeast Kingdom offers an outstanding quality of life with year-round outdoor recreation, excellent schools, and a welcoming atmosphere. IMPORTANT: Housing and Transportation Requirements Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital (NVRH) is located in a rural area of northeastern Vermont, approximately two hours from the nearest major airport. Public transportation is not available, and there are no local taxi services or ride-share options. A dependable personal vehicle is required for the duration of this assignment. NVRH does not provide housing. While we can provide a list of local housing resources as a courtesy, the traveler is solely responsible for identifying, securing, and paying for housing before arriving for their assignment. Credentialing is due 5 business days prior to assignment start. Late credentialing will result in a pushed start date.
