Position Summary:

The Eco-Leadership Corps is an eight-week paid internship for high school and college students interested in careers in conservation. This is an entry level role for candidates with coursework completed in biology, conservation, environmental education, community leadership, or related field. Interns will explore and help care for Greenwich Audubon Center's 285-acre sanctuary while gaining hands-on experience in land stewardship, youth engagement, and professional development.

• Length of Internship: 8 weeks: June 29th - August 21st

• Hours: 6 hours per day / 30 hours per week

This position is classified as on-site at Greenwich Audubon Center, Greenwich, CT.

Compensation:

$19.00 / hour

Additional Job Description

Intern Responsibilities and Learning Objectives:

• Support the design and complete a land stewardship project that improves bird habitat, restores native ecosystems, or enhances public access to sanctuary lands

• Create and present a capstone project

• Present on a capstone project and overview of the internship at a community-wide event

• Participate in weekly professional development sessions focused on conservation careers, environmental justice, leadership, public speaking, and college readiness

• Partner/Collaborate/Assist with Audubon staff to ensure that equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging principles are incorporated and followed in all aspects of our work.

Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Commitment to Audubon's organizational values of care, collaboration, change, integrity, impact, and innovation.

• Demonstrated personal and professional commitment to and experience in advancing equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging.

• Current high school or college students with coursework completed in biology, conservation, environmental education, community leadership, or related field

• No prior experience required - curiosity, reliability, and willingness to learn are essential

• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
