Essential Duties:

1.

Reliable and punctual attendance is essential; expected to be at job as scheduled each scheduled day.

2.

Communicate necessary information to others as appropriate.

3.

Registers customers for services completely and accurately into EMR

4.

Obtains proper Identification and insurance cards; scans into EMR.

5.

Obtains and witnesses consent for treatment.

6.

Obtains and maintains knowledge supporting the registration process including; insurance payers/plans, Medicare requirements, consents for care, confidentiality, bed placement, HIPAA, OSHA, and other regulations.

7.

Performs verification of insurance eligibility of customers including, identification of copay, deductible, and coinsurance liabilities and collects appropriate liabilities via credit card, check, or cash. Securely maintains payments received from customers and issues receipts.

8.

Assists the ED Nursing staff in answering telephones as needed.

9.

Refers patients to a patient financial resource as needed for assistance with financial counseling.

10.

Follows EMTALA guidelines.

11.

Obtains patient weights if nursing staff delegates in kilograms.

12.

Performs ED room turn over as needed.

13.

Floats to the hospital admissions area to assist with the admissions process and to perform duties of the ward clerk as needed.

GENERAL DUTIES:

1.

Maintains a positive attitude and values while providing exceptional customer service.

2.

Ability to handle stressful situations and maintain composure in front of patients/families.

3.

Knowledge of Medical terminology.

4.

Documents appropriately; follows HIPAA.

5.

Completes all scanning for the shift without leaving for the next shift.

6.

Maintains patient/resident/employee privacy and confidentiality at all times.

7.

Other job related duties as assigned.

Wage Range: The wage for this position starts at $21.33 and goes up based on experience.
