Job Description

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation is seeking a part-time salaried Education Program Manager. This position will be responsible for leading and managing our tutor and First STEP Preschool Program. This position will be responsible for hiring and training additional tutors for Richmond and Fredericksburg. Work with the Director of Programs to determine strategy for both the tutor and preschool program. In addition, this position will work with the Associate Director of Education with program needs. Partners with the Program Events Coordinator in planning and executing the holiday and end of year party at the preschool and any other social events.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provides support, guidance and oversight of tutoring programs and First STEP preschool teacher/program.
  • Provides consultation and resource support for First STEP teachers when concerns arise with students demonstrating late effects of treatment.
  • Review and revise tutoring guidelines, as needed.
  • Hire and train additional tutors for in person in Richmond and Fredericksburg.
  • Quarterly check in with in person tutors and brain bodega coordinator to discuss specific needs and resources.
  • Semester check in with parents to evaluate how tutoring is assisting their child.
  • Semester lunch in and connections with tutors.
  • Attend ASK training on childhood cancer late effects and other training applicable to working with the preschool population.
  • Stay up to date with the latest research and best practices in special education and pediatric cancer late effects through a variety of professional development sources.
  • Coordinate with the head of the preschool program to ensure all documentation from families is completed and accurate.
  • Coordinate, plan, and facilitate monthly culture enrichment activities (ie. art and music classes) for the preschool program.
  • Coordinator with Program event coordinator regarding the holiday and end of year party at the preschool and any social events.
  • Coordinate staff attending the preschool including monitoring the sign-up genius preschool volunteering.
  • Quarterly in person meetings with staff to discuss concerns, any needs and provide resources.
  • Input tutoring data into Apricot database.
  • Maintain all tutoring records and spreadsheets including inputing data into Apricot database.
Education, Skills & Experience includes:
  • Bachelor of Education Degree required.
  • Minimum of 5 years teaching experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience working with pediatric cancer patients and medical professionals in the hospital and clinic setting is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience creating and implementing educational programs for childhood cancer patients and survivors of all ages and their families is preferred.
  • Ability to build relationships across a diverse population.
  • Ability to work independently while functioning within a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including written and verbal.
This is a part-time salaried position working 25 hours per week in-person and requires some evenings and weekends. This person will position is based in the community and will come into the office for team meetings and any events as needed and required.The starting salary for this position is $45,000 annually.
