Job Description
Pay: $33.29 per hour
Schedule: Monday and Tuesday from 9:30am- 11:00am or 10:00am- 11:30am
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the general supervision of the Director, the Education Recreation Instructor for Art and Culture will plan and carry out programming sessions for older adults who attend the senior center. The instructor will teach basic art and sewing techniques and will prepare and present fashion shows and cultural activities. Specific duties and responsibilities include:
- Develop lesson plans and activities for the class
- Create an atmosphere where all participants are engaged, have fun, are safe, and work collectively as a team
- Regularly communicate with the Director regarding participants and class topics
- Mentor and support new and first-time members
- Maintain accurate program documentation, including but not limited to sign-in/sign-out sheets, attendance reports, etc.
- Maintain an organized workspace by taking responsibility for maintaining all supplies, materials, equipment, and program spaces
- Prepare fashion shows and cultural activities with older adults

- Demonstrated skill and knowledge in sewing, fashion shows, and cultural activities
- Ability to teach beginner sewing
- Ability to encourage a creative, nurturing, and inclusive class setting for older adults to explore their artistic and cultural skills
- Excellent verbal and written customer service skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to provide quality care with compassion, patience, and empathy
- Ability to show genuine interest in helping older adults
- A self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred
- Minimum of one (1) year related teaching experience required
- Experience working with the older adult population preferred
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) required
