Job Description

Position Title: Education Supervisor

Reports To: Director of Operations

Classification: Full Time / Exempt

Status: Variable Salary

Range: $22.50 - $26.59 per hour

Required Education and Experience:• The candidate will have a baccalaureate or advanced degree in Early Childhood Education or a baccalaureate or advanced degree and equivalent coursework in early childhood education with early• education teaching experience; at least three (3) years of experience working with children with differing abilities; or equivalent combination of related training and experience. Pass employment• physical & TB test. Be certified in Child and Adult CPR and Basic First Aid.

Summary/Objective: Under general direction this position is responsible for achieving the tasks listed below.

Essential Functions:

  • Is responsible for the direct oversight of the Head Start teaching team(s) in accordance with the Head Start Performance Standards and the CAAC policies and procedures.
  • Conducts performance evaluations of teaching teams.
  • Communicates regularly, respectfully, and cooperatively with all.
  • Provides day-to-day direct supervision for centers, classrooms, and staff, including center management, facility support, problem solving and conflict resolution, to assure program compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and state of Michigan licensing regulations as well as program policies and procedures.
  • Participates in interviewing panel and hiring staff including intern placements.
  • Participates in designated team meetings such as the Staffing of Students, School Readiness, Management and Family Engagement Meetings.
  • Assists the Family Engagement Specialists in the planning of parent engagement and education activities, including PACT and Family Night. Assists with open houses and special programs as needed.
  • Review, monitor, and approve weekly lesson plans, checklists, monthly in-kind reports, and biannual home visiting and conference forms from the classrooms.
  • Collects, reviews, and distributes classroom paperwork, i.e., time sheets, compliance documents, mileage forms, payroll, receipts, etc.
  • Conducts onsite monitoring of anecdotal records and implementation/fidelity of curriculum.
  • Conducts ongoing professional development and utilizes data to support practice-based coaching.
  • Responds to and follows-up on parent and/or staff concerns, as appropriate.
  • Reviews orders for office, classroom and center supplies then submits to the Director of Operations.
  • Partners with the Teacher Coach and the Mental Health and Support Services Department.
  • Reviews the monthly newsletter.
  • Participates in the annual program self-assessment.
  • Completes reports and documentation on a regular basis.
  • Conducts a performance self-evaluation and works consistently to improve own job performance & develops individual professional development goals annually.
  • Adheres to the agency's Confidentiality Agreement.
  • Respects and promotes the unique identity of each child and family, and refrains from stereotyping based on gender, race, ethnicity, culture, religion, or disability.
  • Ensures compliance with all Local, State, and Federal regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Director of Early Education Services.
