Job Description

What you get to do:

  • Implement education school programs/day camps or sleepovers/resident camps, and assist with tours, in park presentations, or other programs as needed.
  • Escort or drive guests or campers on tours of the park; providing in-depth park and animal information, interpreting animal exhibits, providing frontline access to attractions and priority seating to select shows
  • Lead classroom programs and implement camp curriculum in an effective and timely manner.
  • Participate in program duties including activity materials and equipment set-up and breakdown, classroom set-up and clean-up, team-building exercises, and advanced preparation for incoming campers' needs.
  • Represent the Education department at park and community events, promoting education programs- to include camp fairs, school presentations, expos and other events as needed.
  • Serve as a positive role model for children and other park guests by adhering to company standards on wardrobe, conduct, safety, cleanliness, and timeliness at all times.
  • Drive Tour Trucks for Serengeti Safari.
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on business need

What it takes to succeed:

  • Must be at least 18 years old, prefer 21+ years old with at least 1 year of college in a Biology/Zoology, Education, or Environmental Science degree program
  • Must have a valid Driver's License and able to meet company driving guidelines
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with ambassadors and guests
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull and/or carry up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis
  • Position engages in extensive walking and standing throughout entire work shift and climb/ascend heights if needed
  • Must be able to work indoors and outdoors, in varying Florida weather, to include extreme heat. Position may be exposed to fumes, dust, odors and cold/heat temperature extremes

What else is important:

  • Able to kneel, squat, bend floor-to waist/waist-to-overhead, reach overhead, simple grasp and fine hand manipulation tasks(use of tools/keyboard/writing)
  • Perform all cleaning duties; including use of cleaning chemicals
  • Work a flexible schedule/hours based on business need, to include opening, mid-, and closing shifts; nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to provide outstanding guest service.
  • Ability to work individually and/or within a team.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computers and Microsoft programs.
  • Strong leadership qualities are a must with good oral and written communication skills.
  • Previous related experience with education programs and working with children preferred.
