We are searching for our next group of EHS Co-ops for a 3-month assignment at our Beverly, MA, facility. Our Co-op program is designed to develop early career talent and build a strong pipeline of future safety and environmental professionals. Students gain hands-on exposure, work on real projects, and make meaningful contributions. Throughout the program, Co-ops build technical skills, strengthen problem-solving abilities, and gain real-world experience that enhances both their academic learning and future career opportunities.

About the Role

Working in the environmental, health, and safety fields is a rewarding and impactful position. Co-ops in this role can expect to interact with a cross section of the entire business to assess their risk exposure, mitigate hazards with controls, and connect with individuals on creative solutions to personal safety opportunities. Beyond meeting the regulatory requirements of OSHA, EPA, MassDEP, and others- Axcelis maintains a culture of continuous improvements that go beyond our basic requirements for a meaningful impact on our business and the lives of our employees.

Axcelis EHS is also focused on meeting ambitious sustainability initiatives, such as reaching Net Zero emissions by 2050 and supporting the Science Based Target Initiative (SBTi). An Axcelis co-op can expect to participate in a variety of social events focused on sustainability and contribute to technical projects that have a direct impact on emission minimization efforts across the business.

What You'll Do

  • Support ISO 14001 / ISO 45001 EHS Management System through management of selected program elements, documentation, auditing, and corrective actions.

  • Conduct/monitors daily, weekly, and monthly EHS inspections and recommend improvements to the EHS committee

  • Develop site specific training and assist with the management of on-line training curriculum via LMS, maintain training records

  • Manage Axcelis' Hazard Communication Program, including maintenance of written program, SDS management, chemical and facilities labeling, and new chemical review and approval.

  • Conduct comprehensive EHS incident/near miss investigations, determine root cause, and make recommendations for corrective and preventative actions

  • Conduct and document Risk Assessments for plant operations

  • Candidates must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as the ability to exercise discretion and diplomacy in the course of communications.

  • Must have excellent computer skills in applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Commute Information:

To support students commuting to our facility, Axcelis provides a $1,000 travel stipend, paid as a lumpsum in the first paycheck. Our headquarters in Beverly, MA, is located directly off Route 128 and just 10 minutes from the Beverly Train Station for those using public transportation. Transportation between the Beverly station and the facility is available through the Salem Skipper rideshare service. U.S. BASE SALARY RANGE

$15.60 - $23.40

This base salary range reflects the typical compensation for this role across U.S. locations.

Our salary ranges are determined by role and level; individual pay is determined based on

multiple factors, including job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, work

location, and internal equity. The range provides the opportunity for growth and progression as

you develop within the role.

Base pay is one part of our U.S. total compensation package which includes eligibility in the

Axcelis Team Incentive bonus plan, and comprehensive benefits package (for regular

employees working 20+ hours a week).
