Job Description

The EHS Manager oversees environmental, health, and safety programs across multiple operational areas including Manufacturing, Office/Administrative spaces, R&D, Quality Labs, Equipment Manufacturing, and Facilities. This role builds the long-term strategy for reducing EHS risk, strengthening compliance, lowering injury and illness rates, and shaping a proactive safety culture across all supported sites. It also leads the environmental sustainability approach for the campus and partners with cross-functional teams to drive sustainability initiatives. A major responsibility includes managing programs and systems that support certifications aligned with environmental and safety management standards. The EHS Manager leads the EHS team, promotes consistency in practice, and drives efficiency in compliance, waste handling, energy use, sustainability, and facilities-related standards.
Pay: $80K/YR

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the EHS team and manage all compliance programs, certifications, and projects supporting manufacturing, office, research, lab, equipment manufacturing, and facility operations across multiple sites. 
  • Build and implement a comprehensive EHS risk-mitigation strategy focused on risk assessments, targeted improvements, training, communication, and cultural development. 
  • Partner with onsite leadership to identify and evaluate significant EHS risks and ensure proper controls are in place, monitored, and maintained. 
  • Conduct and support EHS investigations, share corrective actions, and advise leaders on regulatory and safety considerations for future activities. 
  • Train leaders and employees on EHS responsibilities, expectations, and safe work practices. 
  • Lead environmental sustainability efforts across all supported facilities, aligning teams to standardize processes and improve energy, waste, and environmental performance. 
  • Maintain and update environmental, safety, and sustainability documentation to demonstrate compliance with applicable requirements. 
  • Oversee and sustain site EHS certifications tied to environmental management and voluntary safety programs. 
  • Provide indirect leadership to site EHS professionals, developing team capability, technical expertise, and overall performance. 
  • Identify opportunities to reduce costs in EHS and waste management programs. 
  • Create and standardize policies, procedures, and protocols that support compliance and continuous improvement. 
  • Lead Emergency Services Teams and participate in emergency response activities. 
  • Support operational gowning and work within controlled areas when necessary. 
  • Perform additional EHS-related duties as assigned. 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline. 
  • 5 or more years of experience in occupational safety, environmental compliance, or industrial hygiene.
  • Degree in Occupational Health, Environmental Science, Chemistry, or a related field.  
  • Strong understanding of OSHA, EPA, and state/local regulations. 
  • Technical knowledge across key safety and environmental program elements. 
  • Experience evaluating and managing workplace EHS risks. 
  • Strong planning, communication, and organizational skills; comfortable presenting to groups. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. 
  • Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams. 
  • Experience with EHS data systems, tracking, and reporting tools. 
  • Professional certifications such as ASP, CSP, or CHMM.
