Position Summary
The EHS Manager is responsible for building, implementing, and continuously improving the Environmental, Health, and Safety program across all FW Green Management, LLC entities and locations. This role owns safety compliance under OSHA and the Ohio Division of Cannabis Control (DCC), leads hazard identification and incident investigation, and drives a culture where every team member — from Cultivation to Retail — goes home the way they came in. The EHS Manager works hands-on across grow rooms, processing and extraction areas, cure and packaging, warehouse and logistics operations, and dispensary floors, partnering closely with department leads and the Director of Human Resources to keep safety, compliance, and accountability at the center of daily operations
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and training programs across all cultivation, processing, and retail locations.Own regulatory compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910/1926, the Ohio Division of Cannabis Control (Ohio Administrative Code Chapter 3796), EPA Worker Protection Standard requirements, and applicable local fire and building codes. Conduct routine safety inspections and job hazard assessments across grow rooms, extraction and processing labs, cure and packaging areas, warehouse/logistics, and dispensary locations.Lead incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective action plans for injuries, near-misses, and property or equipment incidents; maintain OSHA recordkeeping (300/300A/301 logs). Design and deliver new-hire and recurring safety training, including PPE use, chemical handling and GHS/hazard communication, lockout/tagout, confined space, ladder and elevated-work safety, and emergency response procedures.Manage the organization's chemical inventory, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and pesticide/agrochemical handling program in coordination with IPM and Cultivation leadership. Partner with Facilities and Security to maintain fire prevention systems, emergency evacuation plans, and life-safety compliance across all sites.Own workers' compensation claims coordination, including incident reporting, return-to-work planning, and collaboration with HR and insurance carriers. Track and report EHS metrics (incident rates, near-miss trends, training completion, corrective action closure) to executive leadership on a regular cadence.Build and maintain department-specific safety protocols in partnership with Cultivation, Post-Harvest, Trim, Propagation, Packaging, Fertigation, IPM, Quality Control, Cure, Logistics, Security, and Retail leads. Serve as the primary point of contact for OSHA, DCC, fire marshal, and other regulatory inspections and audits; manage responses and remediation timelines.Champion a strong safety culture rooted in Accountability, reinforcing that safety is a shared responsibility across every team, every shift, every location.Requirements
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.4+ years of progressive EHS experience in a manufacturing, agricultural, industrial, or regulated production environment. OSHA 30-Hour General Industry certification required.Working knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 standards, hazard communication (GHS), and Ohio workplace safety regulations. Demonstrated experience leading incident investigations and building corrective action plans.Must be 21 years of age or older and able to pass a criminal background check as required for an Ohio cannabis facility employee badge issued by the Division of Cannabis Control. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to train and influence staff at every level, from cultivation techs to executive leadership.Preferred Qualifications
Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), or Graduate Safety Practitioner (GSP) credential. Prior EHS experience in a licensed cannabis cultivation, processing, or retail environment.Familiarity with NFPA 1 and NFPA 36 (solvent extraction) and International Fire Code requirements for cannabis operations. Experience with hydrocarbon or CO₂ extraction safety.Knowledge of the EPA Worker Protection Standard (WPS) for agricultural pesticide use. Experience managing safety programs across multiple sites or entities.Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.Physical Requirements
Ability to walk cultivation, processing, warehouse, and dispensary floors for extended periods.Tolerance for high-humidity grow room environments and varying temperatures across sites. Ability to climb ladders, access elevated catwalks, and enter confined or restricted areas.Ability to wear required PPE, including respirators (must be fit-test capable). Occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.Ability to travel regularly between King City Gardens, The Garden Mansfield, Seven Legendz Fountain Square, and The Garden Dayton locations.Work Environment
This role operates across a mix of cultivation, processing, warehouse, and retail environments. The EHS Manager should expect regular exposure to grow room humidity and lighting cycles, processing and extraction areas with chemical and equipment hazards, and fast-paced retail floors. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required for travel between entity locations.
