EKG Technician SME Contract Position

Location: Remote  |  Type: Contract  |  Duration: Now – September 2026 (extension possible)

Application Deadline: ASAP

About StraighterLine: StraighterLine is transforming higher education by providing affordable, accessible online courses that help students achieve their academic and career goals. As part of that goal, we’re expanding our healthcare course offerings to prepare students for in-demand certification careers.

The Opportunity: We’re seeking an experienced healthcare professional to serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for our EKG Technician course launching Fall 2026. In this role, you’ll review and validate course content developed by our vendor partner, ensuring clinical accuracy, exam alignment, and industry relevance. You’ll also have the opportunity to be featured as an expert voice in the course itself and in Preppy marketing materials — putting your expertise in front of thousands of students launching their healthcare careers.

What You’ll Do: As an SME, you will:

Review course content for clinical accuracy, completeness, and NHA CET exam alignment

  • Provide expert feedback on errors, gaps, outdated information, and improvement opportunities
  • Validate exam preparation content against the NHA Certified EKG Technician (CET) exam domains
  • Collaborate with our academic team and content vendor to resolve questions and clarify standards
  • Approve final content before course launch
  • Following launch, hold 1 hour per week of virtual office hours to support enrolled students
  • Participate in course and/or marketing features (photo, bio, recorded segments, or testimonials) as mutually agreed

    Time Commitment:

  • Course Build Phase:
  • Estimated 20–30 hours total over 13 weeks (flexible, mostly async schedule)

  • Post-Launch:
  • 1 hour per week for student office hours (ongoing, with notice)

Review Period: Now 2026 – September 2026 (extension possible)

Compensation: Competitive contract rate (details provided in offer)

    Position Requirements

    Minimum Qualifications:

Active NHA CET (Certified EKG Technician) certification

  • 3–4 years of EKG/ECG technician experience in a clinical setting
  • At least 2 years of active EKG acquisition and rhythm interpretation experience within the past 5 years

    Preferred:

Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare, Cardiovascular Technology, Health Sciences, or related field

  • 5+ years of experience across multiple clinical settings (hospital, cardiology clinic, ambulatory care, etc.)
  • Experience with 12-lead interpretation, Holter monitoring, or stress testing
  • Teaching, precepting, or curriculum development experience

    How to Apply: Please Include

    1. Resume/CV highlighting:

  • Your NHA CET certification
  • Years of experience in your discipline
  • Educational background

    2. Brief cover letter (1–2 paragraphs) addressing:

  • Which position(s) you’re interested in
  • Why you’re excited about this SME opportunity
  • Any curriculum development or content review experience (if applicable)
  • • Any teaching or precepting experience (if applicable)
