Job OverviewSeeking an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Technician with 3 to 5 years of experience in a heavy industrial, manufacturing, or continuous-process environment. This role is responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting plant electrical and control systems, including 3-phase motors, 480V equipment, 4160V power distribution, PLCs, DCS systems, and industrial instrumentation. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, proactive, and experienced in supporting reliable plant operations through strong troubleshooting and process improvement skills.
Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair industrial electrical equipment including motor control centers, transformers, 3-phase motors, switchgear, and 4160V power distribution systems
  • Troubleshoot electrical faults to ensure stable power supply and reliable equipment performance
  • Install, calibrate, and troubleshoot process instrumentation including flow meters, level indicators, pressure and temperature transmitters, control valves, and 4–20 mA signal loops
  • Diagnose and repair PLC, DCS, HMI, and SCADA control systems to minimize downtime and maintain process control
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance including inspections, thermal imaging, loop checks, and system testing
  • Follow and enforce all safety procedures including lockout/tagout, arc flash protection, NFPA 70E standards, OSHA regulations, and PPE requirements
  • Safely work around hazardous materials including lead and other toxic substances while strictly following all environmental and safety protocols
  • Update electrical schematics, P&IDs, wiring diagrams, calibration records, and maintenance documentation
  • Support plant shutdowns, equipment upgrades, and major projects while ensuring work is completed safely and on schedule
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to resolve issues quickly and improve system reliability
  • Qualifications
  • 3 to 5 years of hands-on E&I maintenance experience in industrial or manufacturing environments
  • Strong knowledge of 3-phase circuits, motor controls, 480V and 4160V systems, PLCs, DCS, HMI/SCADA, and instrumentation systems
  • Experience with sensors, transmitters, control valves, and 4–20 mA loops
  • Ability to read electrical drawings, P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Technical training, associate degree, electrical licensing, or instrumentation certifications are a plus
  • Strong understanding of OSHA, NEC, NFPA 70E, lockout/tagout, and industrial electrical safety standards
  • Physical and Work Environment
  • Ability to work in a heavy industrial environment with heat, noise, dust, and hazardous material exposure
  • Must be able to climb ladders and stairs, work at heights or in confined spaces, and lift 50+ pounds
  • Must be able to wear required PPE for extended periods including flame-resistant clothing, arc flash suit, respirator, hard hat, hearing protection, gloves, eye protection, and steel-toe boots
  • May work 12-hour rotating shifts to support 24/7 plant operations
  • Must maintain constant safety awareness and strict adherence to all electrical, chemical, and environmental safety procedures
  • Compensation: $25.00 - $45.00 per hour
