The Electrical Design Engineer researches, develops, designs and tests electrical components, equipment and systems.
Responsibilities:
Designs electrical equipment and systems for the manufacturing department.
Designs and directs engineering personnel in fabrication of equipment and systems for the manufacturing department.
Develops applications of controls, instruments, and systems for new manufacturing equipment.
Directs activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing of equipment conform to functional specifications and production requirements.
Directs and coordinates operation, maintenance (including P.M.), and repair of electrical equipment and systems in use.
Troubleshoots and helps in the repair of faulty electronic components and equipment.
Assists in the designing of new methods of manufacturing, which will reduce labor costs and increase efficiencies.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering from four-year college or university; and 5+ years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, or customers.
Mathematical Skills: The ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Drivers License; Professional Engineering Certification preferred.
Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to work with computers and software dealing with spreadsheets, work processing, CAD and databases. Ability to do computer programming. Ability to work with interface equipment between computers and manufacturing equipment.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts; in high precarious places; and in outside weather conditions where they may be occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Note: Time spent working on the felt line is the time that the employee would be exposed to high noise levels, vibration, airborne particles, moving parts, and possible shock. While working in the sewing department, the employee could be expected to be exposed to moving parts, electrical shock and possible toxic chemicals.
