Job Description
Electrical Design Engineer responsible for designing complete electrical and control systems for boilers, chillers, HVAC equipment, and related industrial systems, taking projects from concept through production and startup.
Responsibilities
- Design control panels, power distribution, motor controls, VFDs, PLCs, HMIs, sensors, relays, and instrumentation.
- Create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, BOMs, and engineering drawings.
- Design electrical systems for boilers, chillers, pumps, fans, compressors, burners, valves, and HVAC equipment.
- Select electrical components based on load requirements, voltage, application, safety, and customer specifications.
- Develop and configure PLC/HMI controls, equipment sequencing, alarms, interlocks, and monitoring.
- Ensure designs meet NEC, UL, NFPA, and applicable industry standards.
- Work with mechanical, controls, manufacturing, and field service teams to resolve design and equipment issues.
- Support testing, troubleshooting, commissioning, and field modifications as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field.
- Experience designing electrical systems for boilers, chillers, HVAC, industrial equipment, or similar applications.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical, AutoCAD, SolidWorks Electrical, or similar design software.
- Strong understanding of industrial controls, 480V/240V/120V power, PLCs, VFDs, instrumentation, and control panels.
- Ability to interpret customer specifications and develop practical, production-ready designs.
Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S., without current or future requirements for sponsorship of an employment-based visa status.
