Job Description
Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer Location: Witchita, KS Industry: Aerospace / Avionics / Power Electronics Job Description: Theoris Services is assisting our client in their search for an Electrical Design Engineer to join a leading provider of avionics, power electronics, and battery systems. This role emphasizes digital and mixed-signal design and offers involvement across the entire product lifecycle from concept and requirements through design, implementation, testing, certification, and field application. You’ll contribute to innovative projects including cockpit displays and instruments, remote sensing, data conversion and storage, and lithium battery management, while collaborating with a talented, multidisciplinary engineering team. Responsibilities: • Design schematics for mixed-signal and digital circuits, coordinating with PCB layout teams. • Develop embedded software for microcontrollers and VHDL firmware for FPGA-based solutions. • Collaborate with mechanical, software, layout, and certification engineers throughout the design process. • Build and troubleshoot hardware, including soldering and use of test equipment in lab environments. • Design hardware and software tools to support product verification and manufacturing. • Execute prototype testing and verification to ensure compliance with performance, quality, and regulatory standards. • Create and maintain documentation including BOMs, ECOs, and work instructions. Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering (digital emphasis preferred). • 5+ years of experience designing electronic products. • Proven ability to create schematics and PCBs for mixed-signal circuits. • Proficiency in C and VHDL for microcontroller and FPGA programming. • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and results-oriented mindset. • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience designing to environmental and EMI requirements such as RTCA DO-160 or MIL-STD-810/461. • Knowledge of Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT) principles. • Familiarity with power conversion systems (AC/DC, DC/DC, DC/AC). • Background in avionics, aerospace, or related electronics manufacturing industries.
