Job Description: Electrical Engineer (PE) / Project Manager
Location: Maitland, FL (Orlando area) — local strongly preferred; relocation consideredCompensation:$90,000–$120,000 (DOE)Employment Type: Full-time
The Opportunity
Lead electrical design and project management for education and commercial buildings, coordinating across disciplines and with architects and owners. This PM-level role suits an Electrical PE with ~8–12 years in an MEP consulting environment who can own client interaction, run project meetings, and mentor junior staff.
What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)
Own projects end-to-end: scope, schedule, budgets, design delivery, QA/QC, construction support.
Lead multi-discipline coordination (mechanical, plumbing, FP, technology/low-voltage, commissioning); interface closely with architects and owners.
Execute electrical systems design for commercial and institutional facilities (focus on medium-voltage distribution within facilities; low-voltage experience is a plus).
Produce/review Revit models and construction documents; ensure drawing/spec quality and NEC/NFPA and Florida code compliance.
Develop designs for interior/exterior lighting, standby/emergency power, surge & lightning protection, grounding/bonding.
Plan and run internal/external project meetings; document decisions, risks, and action items.
Coordinate with AHJs and utilities; support submittal reviews, RFIs, site observations, and punch.
Mentor/supervise junior engineers/designers as the team grows.
Required skills and experience
B.S. in Electrical Engineering.
Active Florida PE (or ability to obtain via comity within 1 year).
8–12 years of electrical design experience in an MEP consulting firm (PM-level responsibility).
Demonstrated expertise in:
Medium-voltage building distribution
Lighting (interior/exterior), standby power, surge/lightning protection
Revit (strong, hands-on proficiency); Word/Outlook/Excel familiarity
Codes: Solid knowledge of NEC/NFPA and Florida/local electrical requirements (SREF/FBC exposure for K-12 is a plus).
Strong client-facing communication skills—written, verbal, and presentation.
Stability: Consistent tenure; we generally avoid resumes with many 1–2 year stints.
Nice to Have
K-12 schools design experience (strong preference) and/or higher ed, healthcare, aviation, or government facilities.
Experience coordinating low-voltage/systems (security, communications) alongside power.
Prior team leadership and experience mentoring junior staff.
