Job Description:- Workers at this level solve more complex problems in engineering areas of specialization with limited supervision. Workers are expected to develop advanced skills and the ability to work with even greater independence. They effectively apply fundamental concepts and procedures to work that is progressingly complex and varied. ?15 years discipline experience and unique SME skills.
- Requesting an Electrical Design Engineer for the Client’s Nuclear Plant in Southport, NC. The nuclear industry is a key component that provides generation with no emissions and is vital to clean energy transformation.
- The individual will perform design engineering work for electrical projects within the engineering organization.
- Selected individuals will serve as the Lead Technical Engineer and/or Responsible Engineer for assigned projects and will support other project teams as needed.
- Responsibilities include developing design packages, preparing conceptual designs and specifications for bidding purposes, evaluating alternatives, providing technical support during implementation, developing setpoints, coordinating design efforts with selected vendors, architect-engineers, and designers, and conducting design package reviews.
- Expected design products include major electrical system replacements, instrument component upgrades, and control circuit modifications.
- The individual is expected to demonstrate sound technical judgment and provide technical guidance to the project team.
- This position will be filled commensurate with education and experience.
- Current/ past qualification at a nuclear utility as a Modification Engineer under an INPO Accredited Program within the past five years.
- Individual is/was qualified as a Modification Engineer to work independently in the past five years.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (BSEE) or equivalent work experience
- Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access to a nuclear facility (General Employee Training, Radiation Worker Training, Security Clearance checks and subject to the site’s Fitness for Duty Program)
- Strong oral / written communication skills within a professional environment
- Skilled in the practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations and preparing and presenting recommendations.
- Must be able to work in a team environment
- Registration/Licensure as a Professional Engineer
- Electrical engineering experience at a Client’s Nuclear Plant
- Experience in the 10CFR50.59 with respect to designing modifications to a nuclear facility.
- Knowledge of Passport or Consolidated Asset Suite for design and work order development
