Electrical Engineer 1
Job Type: W2 ContractContract Duration: 24-MonthsLocation: Rapid City, SD 57703Work Setting: Fully Onsite, First Shift (8AM - 4PM)Pay Rate: $27.00 - $28.50/hour
Job Summary
In this role, you will work closely with a product group and an engineering project lead to support the design and development of electrical components for heavy equipment applications. Responsibilities include assisting with the design and modeling of electrical systems such as wiring harnesses, cables, sensor groups, schematics, and associated mounting components. This position also involves collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams and suppliers to support product development and resolve design issues.
Job Responsibilities
- Create 3D models and detailed drawings for electrical components and assemblies, including sensor groups, wiring harnesses, cables, and mounting brackets
- Develop, create, and modify wiring schematics
- Create harness and cable routings using 3D modeling software
- Design and model associated mounting components such as brackets
- Evaluate cost effectiveness, reliability, and safety of design models
- Interpret engineering drawings, prints, and engineering standards
- Identify design issues and assist with resolution efforts
- Communicate technical information with internal engineering teams and external suppliers

- Ability to create sketches, engineering drawings, and perform common engineering computations
- Ability to perform detailed calculations to support manufacturing, construction, and installation standards
- Ability to apply principles of electrical theory to engineering projects
- Experience using computer applications and design software related to the engineering field
Education & Experience Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (required)
- 0–2 years of relevant experience
- Internships accepted as applicable experience
Top 3 Required Technical Skills
- Proficiency with PTC Creo or other parametric 3D modeling tools
- Experience with electrical design related to automotive or heavy equipment systems
- Mechanical print reading and/or drafting experience
Additional Technical Skills
Required
- Experience with 3D parametric modeling software (Creo, Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar)
- Experience applying Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
Desired
- Experience operating or maintaining heavy equipment
