Electrical Engineer
Location: Mossville, IL Pay Rate: $54 - $57Schedule: Core hours 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (occasional early or late meetings with global teams)
About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Electrical Engineer to join a Product Health team supporting in?production electric drivetrain power inverters. This role focuses on maintaining, improving, and troubleshooting high?voltage, high?power inverter systems used in electrified off?highway applications.
The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on experience in power electronics testing, validation, and failure analysis, and enjoys working in both lab and office environments alongside a highly collaborative engineering team.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Perform lab testing and root-cause analysis for field and production inverter issues
- Develop and execute test plans, including fixture setup, instrumentation, data collection, and analysis
- Document, summarize, and present test results, failure analysis, and technical findings
- Review engineering drawings, technical requirements, and specifications; partner on print updates
- Support cost-reduction initiatives through component validation, new supplier evaluation, and production readiness
- Manage component obsolescence and support new source introductions
- Apply quality tools and processes such as CPI, FMEA, APQP, and PPAP
- Collaborate closely with electrical SMEs, test engineers, manufacturing, suppliers, and global engineering teams
Team & Work Environment
- Part of a Product Health engineering team focused on inverter maintenance and production improvements
- Team of ~8 engineers, working closely under an electrical team lead
- Regular collaboration with global engineering partners and suppliers
- Split between lab and office work (approximately 50/50)
- PPE required in lab environments (steel-toe shoes, safety eyewear)
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (required)
- 8+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience
- Strong understanding of electric drivetrain traction inverters, including topology, control, design, and manufacturing
- Proven hands-on experience testing and validating high-voltage, high-power power electronics
- Strong troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and failure investigation skills
- Experience coordinating testing activities, instrumentation, fixtures, schedules, and reporting
- Familiarity with IPC 600/650 and IEC 60204 / 60664 / 61557 standards
- Experience using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, dataloggers, HV probes, current transducers, thermal chambers, and high-voltage power supplies
- Experience with data analysis tools such as Python, MATLAB, Excel, and JBER
- Strong communication and collaboration skills in cross-functional and matrixed environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree with a focus on Power Electronics
- Experience with power inverter production support, lifecycle management, and obsolescence management
- Experience working with global engineering teams, customers, and suppliers
