Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Design & Project Development: Develop comprehensive engineering designs, statements of work, specifications, and cost estimates for facility electrical systems, including interior/exterior lighting, power distribution, backup generators, and fire alarm systems.
- Infrastructure Assessment: Conduct site visits and field investigations to evaluate existing medium and low-voltage electrical distribution systems, transformers, switchgear, and airfield lighting. Identify infrastructure deficiencies and recommend lifecycle upgrades or critical repairs.
- Contract & Construction Oversight: Review technical submittals, shop drawings, and project plans provided by construction contractors. Ensure all proposed work strictly complies with the National Electrical Code (NEC), Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), and Department of the Air Force standards.
- Troubleshooting & Technical Support: Investigate complex electrical failures, power outages, and power quality issues across base infrastructure. Provide actionable, engineering-based solutions and technical guidance to maintenance personnel, craftspeople, and base leadership.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work seamlessly with mechanical, civil, and architectural engineers, as well as utility managers and project managers, to ensure the cohesive and successful execution of multi-disciplinary facility projects.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
- Proven experience in the design, construction, or maintenance of commercial, industrial, or military facility electrical systems.
- Comprehensive working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and strong familiarity with military Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) design standards.
- Proficiency with engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) and standard office productivity tools.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical requirements into clear project plans and reports.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer in Training (EIT) certification is highly desirable.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a required security clearance.
