Designs, develops, and tests electrical devices and equipment, including communications systems, power generators, motors and navigation systems, and electrical systems for automobiles and aircraft. Oversees the manufacturing of these devices, systems, and equipment. Designs new ways to use electrical power to develop or improve products. Performs detailed calculations to develop manufacturing, construction, and installation standards and specifications. Directs manufacturing, installing, and testing of electrical equipment to ensure that products meet specifications and codes. Investigates complaints from customers or the public, evaluate problems, and recommend solutions. Works with project managers on production efforts to ensure that projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget. Designs electronic components, software, products, or systems for commercial, industrial, medical, military, or scientific applications. Analyzes customer needs and determine electrical system requirements, capacity, and cost to develop a system plan. Develops maintenance and testing procedures for electronic components and equipment. Evaluates systems and recommend design modifications or equipment repair. Inspects electronic equipment, instruments, and systems to make sure they meet safety standards and applicable regulations. Plans and develops applications and modifications for electronic properties used in parts and systems to improve technical performance. This role combines real-time embedded software development with electrical hardware design, including power systems, circuit design, and system integration. The engineer will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to architect, implement, and test complex systems spanning embedded software, firmware, and electronic hardware for mission-critical prototypes. An active Top Secret (TS) clearance or higher is required for this position. Virtual/Work from Home Onsite Other information relevant to the job requirement?-Collaborate with a small, multidisciplinary team to define system architecture and derive software and hardware requirements from high-level system designs.-Design, simulate, and implement analog, digital, and power circuits, including schematic capture and board layout-Conduct system trade studies and performance benchmarking across hardware and software implementations-Debug, characterize, and qualify new circuits and embedded systems-Utilize laboratory instrumentation (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, signal generators, etc.) for validation and troubleshooting-Document designs, test results, and system performance Required Qualifications:-Extensive experience developing real-time embedded systems for hardware control-Experience integrating software with physical hardware systems-Strong background in analog, digital, and power circuit design-Experience with full hardware lifecycle: design, schematic capture, layout, debugging, and testing-Experience with SPICE modeling and circuit simulation-Experience with Mentor Graphics / Xpedition / DxDesigner or similar tools-Experience with power electronics and control/conversion systems Preferred Skills:-Strong proficiency in C/C++ programming for embedded applications-Experience with RTOS environments (e.G., VxWorks, real-time Linux, Xenomai)-Experience with multi-threaded, interrupt-driven, and deterministic systems-Candidate should expect to be onsite 100% of the time due to the nature of the work-Candidates must have an ACTIVE Top Secret clearance in order to be considered for this role.-Interview process: initial technical screening and then a second round with a wider group audience.
