Electrical Design EngineerHamilton, ONManufacturingCompetitive Salary $90,000-$105,000 base salary, Benefits, RSP, BonusOur client, a Canadian based Industrial Equipment manufacturer in Hamilton, On, is seeking a detail-oriented Electrical Design Engineer to join their dynamic and innovative organization. The role is responsible for designing and implementing electrical systems for industrial equipment, with a strong focus on PLC/HMI controls and DC systems. The position will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration, safety compliance, and performance excellence. The ideal candidate is inspired by working with cutting edge technology and creating innovative solutions for clients in a fast-paced custom manufacturing environment.The Role:
- Develop electrical schematics, layouts, and panel designs using CAD platforms such as AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or SolidWorks Electrical.
- Specify electrical components including PLCs, HMIs, sensors, relays, motors, and protective devices.
- Design and troubleshoot crane control systems, hoist operations, travel circuits, and integrated safety features.
- Maintain and improve DC control systems for industrial applications, with emphasis on reliability and compliance.
- Program, commission, and troubleshoot control systems on-site to ensure operational success and customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate with mechanical and project teams to integrate electrical systems into new and retrofit designs.
- Conduct load studies and ensure compliance with CSA, NEC, IEC, and other applicable standards.
- Support prototype development and testing, assisting with issue resolution during build and commissioning phases.
- Create documentation including BOMs, technical specifications, and installation manuals.
- Contribute to cost-effective, scalable, and maintainable design solutions.
- Participate in design reviews and help refine internal processes and engineering practices.
- Keep abreast of emerging technologies and propose relevant improvements to systems and tools.
- Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or a related discipline.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in electrical design within an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or equivalent design tools.
- Solid understanding of control systems, including PLCs and industrial automation.
- Familiarity with Canadian and international electrical codes and safety standards.
- Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail.
- Effective communicator and collaborative team player.
- Experience with electrical testing protocols and instrumentation would be an asset.
- Ability to work in office at the Hamilton facility - Remote or Hybrid not applicable.
