Job Description
Title: Electrical Engineer
Client: Architecture and Engineering Firm• Duration: Full-Time (Permanent)• Location: Palatine, IL• Work Model: Hybrid
Role Summary
Mid- to senior-level Electrical Engineer supporting building systems design across multiple market sectors. This role offers flexibility to function as a Project Engineer or Managing Engineer under the supervision of a Professional Engineer. Strong focus on client interaction, multidisciplinary coordination, and long-term facility planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Design electrical systems including:
- Power distribution
- Lighting and lighting controls
- Fire alarm systems
- Support sustainability and energy-efficiency improvements
- Write and edit technical specifications
- Conduct document quality reviews
- Research design solutions and prepare cost estimates
- Support long-term facility planning for clients
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and consultants
- Participate in coordination, user, and site meetings
- Propose equipment, product, or system modifications
- Qualify final electrical equipment and systems
- Prepare and maintain product documentation
- Monitor installed systems to improve future designs
- Maintain and grow existing client relationships
- Support and supervise junior engineering staff

Required Skills and Qualifications
- 5 years of electrical engineering design experience
- Strong organizational, written, and presentation skills
- Excellent communication and client-facing abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
- Experience supervising and training team members
Preferred
- 4-year engineering degree from an accredited institution
- Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam
- Exposure to managing or leading project teams
- Interest in pursuing Professional Engineer (PE) licensure
