Electrical EngineerLocation: Plano, TX or Phoenix, AZSchedule: HybridEmployment Type: Full-TimeOpenings: 2Compensation: $75,000$124,000 annually, based on experience and locationBonus: 8%10%, based on experienceTravel: Travel to other facilities as needed, not frequentStart Date: ASAPPosition OverviewWheeler Staffing Partners is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support the design and integration of medium-voltage power distribution systems for modular solutions serving mission-critical data centers and industrial markets, including oil & gas, renewables/BESS, mining, and utility sectors.This role is responsible for owning the electrical scope for projects of moderate to high complexity, including system architecture, equipment specification, grounding design, protection strategy, and compliance with applicable UL, IEEE, NEC, and NFPA standards. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in medium-voltage power systems, switchgear, protective relaying, and electrical design for modular or mission-critical environments.Key ResponsibilitiesElectrical Design & Power System Architecture
- Develop medium-voltage and low-voltage power system architectures for modular electrical systems, including one-line and three-line diagrams as required
- Design and integrate medium-voltage power distribution systems for modular E-House and skid-based solutions
- Size and specify major electrical equipment in accordance with applicable standards, including UL 1558, UL 891, UL 857, UL 67, and IEEE C37 series
- Select interrupting ratings and short-circuit withstand ratings based on calculated available fault current
- Define grounding and bonding strategies in accordance with NEC, IEEE 80, and IEEE 3007, including skid/baseframe bonding and site grounding interfaces
- Develop control and interlock philosophies including EPO, permissives, trip schemes, and alarms in coordination with controls and protection teams
- Develop schematics for auxiliary AC/DC power, lighting, receptacles, panelboards, and control panels, including UL 508A applications where applicable
- Specify and integrate transfer switch systems in accordance with UL 1008 and UPS systems in accordance with UL 1778, including maintenance bypass schemes and redundancy topologies such as N, N+1, and 2N
- Coordinate battery and energy storage integration in accordance with UL 1973 and UL 9540, including DC distribution, disconnecting means, monitoring, and safety interfaces
- Define protection philosophies and relay schemes consistent with IEEE C37 standards and support coordination settings development and review
- Coordinate electrical interfaces with HVAC, fire protection, and auxiliary systems, including NFPA 72 and NFPA 855 requirements where applicable
- Support arc-flash mitigation strategies and compliance with applicable safety and electrical standards
- Produce and/or review electrical drawing packages including one-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, interconnects, and cable schedules
- Develop and maintain bills of materials (BOMs) to align with drawings, specifications, and manufacturing requirements
- Collaborate with procurement, project management, and production teams to support material readiness, project execution, and manufacturing success
- Support UL/NRTL listing efforts and major customer compliance programs
- Assist with first article inspection (FAI), factory acceptance testing (FAT), commissioning, and field troubleshooting
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 2+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience; 4+ years preferred
- Experience with medium-voltage equipment in the 5kV35kV range, switchgear, and protective relaying
- Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE C37 standards, IEEE 1584, and UL switchgear/switchboard standards
- Experience performing short-circuit, coordination, and arc-flash studies
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical and/or SolidWorks Electrical
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across engineering, production, and project teams
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced technical environment
- Experience with arc-resistant medium-voltage switchgear in accordance with IEEE C37.20.7
- Data center power architecture experience
- NFPA 110 emergency power systems experience
- Energy storage system integration experience, including UL 9540
- Utility interconnection coordination experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) actively working toward licensure
