Despatch Thermal Processing Technology was established in 1902. It is a business unit within the Electronic Assembly Equipment (EAE) division of ITW and is a global leader in high performance industrial ovens. A diverse array of industries depends upon Despatch ovens, including electronics, healthcare, materials, transportation and industrial markets. Position Summary:

This position will support Despatch's diverse industrial oven portfolio in various ways, including:

  • Modifications of existing products per customer requirements
  • New product development, design and testing
  • Sustaining engineering of current products and value engineering
  • Working collaboratively with mechanical and software engineering, designers, application engineering, product management, purchasing and manufacturing

Education required: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related field, and 0 - 3 years' experience

Skills required:

  • Interest and ability to design, modify and support industrial ovens from 120 VAC to 600 VAC 3-phase
  • Experience with multimeters, data-loggers, electrical troubleshooting
  • Understanding of electrical panel layouts and components, creating and reading schematics
  • Experience with Design-for-Manufacturability and Bills of Materials
  • Effective as both an individual contributor and in collaborative teams
  • Computer skills should include PC operation with Windows, Word, Excel, 2D AutoCad
  • Must have good English verbal and written communication skills

Essential functions of the job (responsibilities):

  • Modify ovens per customer specifications, update electrical schematics, assembly drawings and manuals
  • Update Bills of Material using QAD enterprise resource planning software
  • Design electrical panel layouts per accepted standards
  • Specify various electrical components including motors, heaters, SSRs, breakers, fuses, switches, valves
  • Perform testing on components and systems and provide information transfer from Engineering to other departments
  • Conducts analyses or tests of a routine degree of complexity which pertains to the development of new designs, methods, materials or processes and provides recommendations accordingly
  • May prepare plans, specifications and cost estimates for assignments of moderate difficulty where technical supervision provides an outline of tasks to be performed and suggestions as to methods of approach and procedures to be followed

Working Conditions/Physical demands:

  • Primarily office setting, but includes work in manufacturing and lab environments
  • Able to sit/stand at a desk/PC for long stretches and able to use standard office equipment
  • Able to visit the production areas to address Engineering concerns, respond to manufacturing questions and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Able to travel up to 10% to other locations for meetings, seminars, training, customer site visits, etc...
  • This position requires sitting, standing, walking and lifting up to 25 pounds

Compensation Information:

The pay rate will depend on the successful candidate's qualifications and prior experience. The range for this position is :$75,000 - $88,500 (annually).
