Lead Electrical Engineer (Level 5) Power Electronics & Space SystemsLocation: Redmond, WA or Canoga Park, CAJob Type: Contract (Onsite with limited remote flexibility)Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship preferred (dual citizenship subject to review)Conversion Potential: Opportunity to convert to direct hire Drive Advanced Power & Propulsion TechnologiesWe are seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer (Level 5) to support the development of next-generation spacecraft power systems and electric propulsion technologies. This is a high-impact opportunity to work on advanced electronics solutions designed for extreme environments across land, sea, air, and space applications.Our systems range from tens of watts to hundreds of kilowatts, incorporating power electronics, low- and high-voltage analog, mixed signal, and digital circuitry. This role offers full lifecycle engineering exposurefrom proposal and feasibility through design, verification, production, and post-delivery support.Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Lead Electrical Engineer, you will:
- Lead detailed circuit architecture, design, and development for advanced power electronics systems
- Perform worst-case circuit analysis, simulations, and validation
- Oversee PCB layout design to ensure performance, manufacturability, and reliability
- Conduct initial power-up of new circuit board designs and perform integration testing
- Execute verification, validation, debugging, and troubleshooting activities
- Support production teams to ensure successful hardware delivery and quality standards
- Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical, mechanical, software, systems, test, and program management teams
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to early-career engineers
- Bachelors Degree with 9+ years of relevant experienceOR
- Graduate Degree with 7+ years of relevant experienceOR
- 13+ years of related professional experience in lieu of a degree
- DC-to-DC converter design and power converter development
- Analog, digital, mixed-signal, and high-voltage circuit design
- Power system architecture and hardware development
- LTspice, PSpice, MATLAB/Simulink, or equivalent simulation tools
- PCB design tools such as Altium Designer, Mentor Graphics, or equivalent
- Hands-on use of oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, electronic loads, and laboratory test equipment
- Circuit board bring-up, integration, and troubleshooting
- Root cause analysis and technical problem resolution
- Strong analytical mindset with deep problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to translate complex design concepts into functional, production-ready hardware
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable explaining technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Proven leadership experience guiding engineers and influencing cross-functional teams
- Primary work location: Redmond, WA or Canoga Park, CA
- Onsite role with limited remote flexibility as needed
- U.S. Citizenship preferred; dual citizenship subject to compliance review
