About TransMedics
TransMedics is transforming organ transplantation through the Organ Care System (OCS), a cutting-edge platform combining hardware, software, and clinical science. Our R&D Engineering team develops next-generation technologies that advance organ preservation and transplant care.
Position Summary
The Electrical Engineering Intern will support hands-on R&D activities including schematic design, PCB layout, prototype development, testing, and electrical troubleshooting. This role offers direct exposure to product development in a regulated medical device environment.
This internship is ideal for students who enjoy building, testing, debugging, and working closely with hardware systems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Electrical Design & Development
Assist with electrical schematic design
Support PCB layout and board revisions
Contribute to cable design and documentation
Assist with prototype assembly and development
Testing & Validation
Develop and execute electrical test procedures
Collect and document test data
Use DMMs and oscilloscopes for debugging and validation
Support electrical rework and troubleshooting activities
Prototyping & Lab Support
Perform soldering, including through-hole and surface mount components
Assist with board bring-up and functional testing
Support lab organization and equipment setup
Cross-Functional & Clinical Exposure
Collaborate with Mechanical, Software, and Systems Engineers
Opportunity to observe or participate in hands-on clinical lab activities if interested

Role Requirements
Pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
College Freshman, Sophomore, or Junior
Knowledge of electrical circuits (completion of Circuits I & II preferred)
Soldering experience
Experience using a DMM and/or oscilloscope
Strong desire to learn and gain hands-on experience
Nice to Have (Not Required)
Experience with Altium Designer or other PCB design software
Surface mount soldering experience
Cable building experience
Basic coding knowledge (Python, C)
