We are seeking a Harness Design Engineer with strong wiring harness design experience and recent Caterpillar (CAT) experience. The engineer will design and maintain harnesses, cables, wiring groups, and electrical schematics for marine propulsion engines, gensets, and related electronic products.
Key Responsibilities- Design, release, and maintain wiring harness and cable assembly drawings.
- Develop harnesses and wiring groups for new products and engineering changes.
- Create and maintain EDS and GPGR models for harness assemblies and related components.
- Develop and review electrical schematics and design concepts.
- Support assembly, quality, suppliers, and manufacturing teams with troubleshooting and diagnostics.
- Create drawing deviations, Advanced Change Notices, and engineering documentation.
- Develop harness design best practices, checklists, and drawing standards.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers.
- Support design reviews, deep dives, and technical presentations.
- Investigate and implement improvements to harness designs.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (BSEE/BSME).
- 5 7 years of relevant engineering experience.
- Minimum 2 years of Caterpillar (CAT) experience.
- Strong wiring harness design experience.
- Experience with Creo, Pro/E, AutoCAD, or similar CAD tools.
- Experience with EDS and Teamcenter.
- Knowledge of APQP and PPAP processes.
- Strong electrical/electronic troubleshooting skills.
- Experience working with internal teams and external suppliers.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Recent experience with Caterpillar engines or gensets.
- Experience with CAT ET.
- Strong experience reading/developing electrical schematics.
- Experience designing light structures such as brackets for connectors and sensors.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
