Overview
Sparks Group is seeking a skilled and motivated Electrical Critical Facility Technician to support the operation and maintenance of mission-critical infrastructure within a high-availability data center environment. This role is responsible for ensuring all electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and fire/life safety systems operate at peak performance while maintaining maximum uptime for critical systems and infrastructure. Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of critical electrical and mechanical systems
- Maintain and support mission-critical systems with uptime expectations exceeding 99.999%
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical distribution systems, lighting systems, control systems, UPS systems, generators, HVAC components, and fire/life safety equipment
- Install replacement parts and new equipment according to specifications, safety standards, MOPs, SOPs, and manufacturer guidelines
- Operate and monitor Building Automation Systems (BAS) and make required operational adjustments
- Conduct facility walk-throughs to monitor environmental conditions, alarm status, power availability, and equipment performance
- Utilize CMMS systems to document maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and system updates
- Perform diagnostics using specialized testing equipment including infrared scanners, vibration analyzers, Dranetz meters, and Fluke power quality analyzers
- Coordinate and oversee vendors during maintenance, emergency repairs, and critical events
- Develop, review, and update Method of Procedures (MOPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Generate reliability and field service reports to identify opportunities for increased efficiency and resiliency
- Assist with emergency response and management of critical facility systems
- Support and mentor junior technicians while ensuring adherence to safety and operational procedures
- Maintain strong vendor relationships and assist with procurement recommendations for repairs and upgrades
- Follow all safety protocols including lockout/tagout procedures, housekeeping standards, and MSDS compliance
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Minimum of 4 years of experience supporting critical facilities, industrial electrical systems, data centers, or related environments
- State Certified Journeyman’s License or VMET Certification required
- Strong understanding of:
- Electrical power distribution systems
- UPS and generator systems
- HVAC systems and capacities
- Building Automation Systems (BAS)
- Critical facility operations and maintenance
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, schematics, and operating procedures
- Experience using CMMS platforms and standard office software
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and respond effectively in high-pressure environments
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence

Pay Range: Hourly $30.00 to $45.00
